macOS Catalina is NOT approved. Do not upgrade yet until Avid has approved it.

Hi,
I just updated my Mac to macOS Catalina 10.15.1, and the MC is also to the latest 2019.9.0
But I could not launch MC successfully because of this "reloadinig plugin" issue. It keeps hanging on "Reloading Plugin: QuickTime_OPClient.avx"
I tried to reinstall MC four times, but the same issue still pop-up.
I wonder if there could be any solution? I could not work on my project due to tihs issue.
Catalina is not yet qualified for MC. I suggest you revert back to previous working OS sorry.

Hello Sam,
I did not see any attachment, here is the Avid qualified workstation FAQ and MC systems requirements

Happy holidays Sam
The i5 was removed a while ago... like 2 years actually as it is not beefy enough to run the newer versions and feature set.
i7 and i9 are the recent approved machones.

Hi all,
I need your help: Avid was working fine on my old iMac. Now I bought a new iMac and MC keeps getting stuck at "Reloading Plugin: QuickTime_OPClient.avx".
I'm on Media Composer 2018.12.3. What do you guys recommend?!
old iMac
10.14.6 Mojave, 3,5 GHz, i7, 32 GB
new iMac
11.2.2 Big Sur, 3,6 GHz, 10 core i9
Hello Greg,
Did you find a solution for your problem?
I'm having the exact same issue.
Thank you
Felipe
Hi Filipe,
yes, the problem is that my "old" MC is not compatible with Mojave. So I'm forced to switch to the latest Avid version on a subscription basis. This sucks big big time.

Don't avid offer perpetual licences too?
Editing Movie Magic.
My Equipment & System Specs
Media Composer Ultimate 2022.12.2 | Pro Tools Studio 2022.21 | Sibelius Artist 2022.12
Yes they do I have a perpetual license.
But that won't resolve an issue if the MC version isn't compatible.
It's Apple that prevents users installing an old OS on new hardware. My new PC I can load windows 7 if I wanted to.
So having new mac hardware forces you to a newer OS and that will determine the MC version needed.
And you need a license to use that version of course.
