Hey all,
anyone have an idea of how to change keyboards using a keyboard shortcut?
ideally id like to toggle between keyboards so I can keep everything on the left side. This is particularly for trimming. I’d love if my keyboard could change into a TRIM specific keyboard while I was trimming. Them switch back when I’m done.
Having multiple keyboards layouts for different tasks is a genius idea. You could do this with macro software like keyboard maestro. I've just tried it for trimming and it works great.
I mapped it to my 'T' key. When you press 'T':
It does this all almost instantly. Brilliant. I also made a macro to go back to the original keyboard layout. Let me know if you want the actual Macro or more info. I'm super pumped on macros because it allows me to rework Avid in all kinds of ways. I've made some pretty cool things - like a button that automatically date/timestamps my sequences. Or another one that automatically tells me how much over my edit is running. I wish more people used it so we could share ideas.

i use KM too
one button push to lower volume on a track by 1db,
create video mix down and edit the mix down back into the sequence
edit clip name
etc etc
makes all those repeated tasks so much easier. i’ve Got a iPad button trigger for keyboard maestro now so I can name them!
Keymand by Keymand Technologies. Inc.https://apps.apple.com/au/app/keymand/id1245514872
The video mixdown idea is great!
some of my current favs:
Pop up menu that adjusts gain by a bunch of preset amounts.
Made extend edit work without setting in/out points. Just uses playhead position.
select all forward always selects all tracks and lift tool
hot key to mark my episode’s overage
hit key to date/time stamp items in bin
Keymand looks cool too. I’ve been trying out lemur but it’s not the easiest. It is able to send midi notes which KM can use as triggers.
