The “What’s New” and “ReadMe” documents for this release of Media Composer 2019.6 have also been uploaded to the Download Center today, June 20, 2019. Please READ the “What’s New” and “ReadMe” prior to installing and using the product. This new version has changed and is vastly different than past releases so reading these documents and educating is important before using this product.
Changed in Media Composer v2019.6:
- (Windows): If you are installing the editing application and you have a previous version of the editor on your system, go to the Control Panel and manually uninstall the editing application before you try and install v2019.6. You might receive a “cannot continue” error if you perform the installation without manually uninstalling first.
- MCDEV-11537: If you intend to use full-frame stereoscopic with an Avid Artist DNxIQ, you may want to remain with Media Composer 2018.12 until the issues with stereoscopic support are resolved in a future version.
- NVIDIA drivers: NVIDIA drivers are no longer included with the Media Composer installer. You must access the Nvidia website - Nvidia.com to download the applicable driver. See the Compatibility Chart in the ReadMe page 30 for supported driver version with this release.
Limitations: Listed below are the known limitations in Media Composer v2019.6.
- Enable 3rd Party Emulation Warning: If you launch a project and receive an "Enable 3rd Party Emulation" warning, even if you select Enable in the warning dialog, you must also perform the following: Select File > Settings and click the Project tab. Click General Settings and select “Enable Bin Sharing on 3rd party storage emulating Avid NEXIS/ISIS.
- Bug Number: MCDEV-11197. In some instances, the Interleave option might not appear in the Export As dialog box. If you are performing an Export using the Avid Media Processor, the Interleave option should appear when you choose Stereo, 5:1, or 7.1 Audio. Workaround: If it does not appear, briefly toggle back to the Mono setting, then toggle to Stereo Mix once again. Doing so should reveal the Interleave option.
- Bug Number: MCDEV-8641. (AMD Graphics). Systems with AMD graphics cards might display tearing when performing Full Screen playback.
- Bug Number: MCDEV-9460. Windows 7 systems with Nvidia Maxwell or Nvidia Pascal cards might experience playback issues that could result in “Play Consumer timeout” errors. Workaround: Select “Disable GPU Effects” in the Render Settings dialog box.
- Bug Number: MCDEV-9269. (Media Composer | Cloud) After performing a remote download operation on a sequence containing AVC-I 100 remote media, the downloaded media appears as XAVC-I 100. Workaround: Download the entire master clips.
- Bug Number: MCDEV-9011. Intermittently, when working with the XDCAM Nablet Plug-in, you might see “Failed to get the sample position from the AMA Plug-in” errors if you have waveforms enabled in the Timeline.
- Bug Number: COGS-2560. While working in the Script Window, text operations (cut/copy/paste/delete/editing) can only be done in edit mode. See “Editing a Script” in the Help.
- Bug Number: MCDEV-5650. When working with Panasonic LongG media, you might receive an “SFPlayConsumer Timeout” error if audio waveforms are enabled. Workaround: Turn off audio waveforms.
- Bug Number: MCDEV-5385. MultiCam editing with Panasonic LongG media is not supported with this release.

Using the installer downloaded from MyAvid account, I'm getting a Windows Installer error after it finishes installing Avid Link. I did uninstall 2018.12.5, and rebooted.
System:
HP Z840
Windows 10 Enterprise v1809
Ideas?
Yep, and already downloading!
I solved my own problem by moving the installer files to the system drive and installing from there.
For some reason, installing from our Facilis shared storage did not work for this version even though it had for previous ones.
Great, thanks to avid team for the new version!
Already installed and starting testing :-)
Uninstalling old version (2018.12.3) prior to installing the new worked flawlessly on my test machine.
Have fun everyone,
greetings,
Felix

That is noted in the ReadMe under limitations. we just reproduced that today thanks to Kevin klimek, one of our moderators.

I am very excited about Distributed Processing.
I am just an editor who works from home and I hope I do not need Media Central for this.
Can someone elaborate on the requirements for this since the Distributed Processing documentation is currently "coming soon"
Thank You
The documentation is online. If you follow the links through the readme, you'll end up at the PDF. The direct link is at:

edit: Sorry, should have read more closely: you were looking for the distributed processing doc's.

DStone: cls105:I hope I do not need Media Central for this. Sorry, but you need a Nexis and Media Central to make this all work.
slightly frustrating. All the nab videos make it seem like all this stuff will be accessible for editors who work alone (there was no mention of media central if I recall) but when its all said and done, of course its not.
Can someone suggest the cheapest most bare bones config for media central to make distributed processing possible. thanks
This is not seeing my mojo....is there an installer i can run to fix this?

I've had a hell of a time hunting for the Readme and What's new files, I could be dumb, and call me lazy, but I miss the times when new release announcements used to provide links to such documents. This is for anyone looking for the docs

Project in PAL, but shows NTSC. Only with a new project this will be displayed correctly. In window text not displayed correctly.

You need to install the DX-drivers seperately. You can do this when installing Media Composer or later. On the install there is a box you have to tick because the DX-driver is not installed anymore as standard.
As you already installed Media Composer you need to navigate to: (Windows) Program Files\Avid\Utilities\DXDrivers
Hope this helps!
Ivan
Hi Ivan,
I did do that at the time of initial install and tried again uninstalling and installing dx drivers separately. Neither worked to see my mojo dx. Would not host link.
I then tried to back track to 2018.6 all the way back to what I was previously running which was 2018.12.3 and the mojo would not work. I then had to revert to a clone bk drive I made before this update and that worked fine which confirms it is a software thing somewhere. I am tending to think 10.14.5 may be the issue as I did update the OS to the qualified 10.14.5 prior to updating Avid to 2019.6....May try 2019.6 with OSX 10.14.3 as that OS was working before...
Any other thoughts? Do I need to run the Blackmagic codec with the Mojo DX when on 2019.6 and 10.14.5?
Thanks,Dale
