Baselight for Avid v5 Finally Arrives

    It's good news.

Baselight v5 is finally out of beta and available to purchase (or upgrade if you have version 4)

One interesting new feature listed on their datasheet...

'with super-fast relational grading, you can choose to paste grades simulteneously to all shots that match the tape name or clip name of the current shot'

    Sounds familiar?

Also, with the introduction of the input cache in v5, proper real-time client monitoring.

BLE is very good - you can put it on a filler layer and ‘subdivide’ (add edits) to the edits on tracks below.

it does do tape/file/other bin column based filtering for navigating & applying CCR

it works in RGB (0-255) space and correctly maps 709 levels back & forth, which means you can’t make illegal colours (I think)

you can use it very simply for contrast/exposure/sat lift/gamma/gain or venture into more complicated secondaries & keyed/masked sections

30 day trial - give it a spin
