AMT 1080p60 creates 59.94 MXF file

When I try to created a 1080p 60 fps file with AMT (version 2.9.0.880.1 Windows) the created MXF file has a framerate of 59.94 (60000 / 1001). See the used XML below.
When I load back the AAF (with AMT) it shows a framerate of 60. If I load back the MXF (with AMT) it has a framerate of 59.94.

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?>

Re: AMT 1080p60 creates 59.94 MXF file

    GuidoV,

We are unaware of any standardized plain 60.00 fps operating point; what colloquially is being referred to as 60 fps is actually defined as the fraction of (60000/1001) which evaluates to 59.94... fps so the result of your operation appears correct. What is left are the different labels in the XML and AAF which should be irrelevant as far as functionality is concerned since the Avid components will internally use the fractional representation; this being said we agree that display labels should be consistent everywhere and will consider aligning this further for a future AMT release.

If you are trying to achieve something else please further detail your request.

    Rgds,

    Andy

Re: AMT 1080p60 creates 59.94 MXF file

    Hi Andy,

DNxHD 1080p/60 and 1080p/59.94 are both listed in the AVID DNxHD Technology pdf:

    http://www.avid.com/static/resources/US/documents/dnxhd.pdf

If you are saying that there is no 1080p/60 or it is the same as 1080p/59.94 then I have no problem omitting the 1080p/60 option.

    Thanks,

    Guido

Re: AMT 1080p60 creates 59.94 MXF file

Guido, I agree this can be slightly confusing. The DNxHD Mastering Resolutions table in the document you are referring to lists the defined operating points and it is true that there is a defined operating point for 60.00 fps in DNxHD. However, the table refers to what is standardized and does not make a statement towards which operating points are implemented and supported in which products.

For practical purposes, AMT at this stage does not support true 60.00 fps frame rates. In that sense, 60p has been used as a shorthand for 59.94 sometimes.

    Rgds,

    Andy

Re: AMT 1080p60 creates 59.94 MXF file

I thought Avid now supported XAVC 1080 60P as well as 59.95i

So should AMT handle this new XAVC format?

XAVC-Intra 60.00p is not supported in AMT 2.9. Please refer to the published documentation for detailed information about other Avid products; support for new formats will be announced when it becomes available. Also, please remember that this is primarily an Interplay Web Services forum.
