    Donating MC License?

    Hello there,

I've somewhat sadly decided that while I learnt a huge amount about the process of Editing while using Media Composer that I will move on to something a little more modest, MC was always been far too much for my very modest output but I did enjoy the times I did enough time to sit down and edit with it.

My reasons are generally down to the long passages of time between me getting around to editing in my spare time and forgetting half the things that I discovered the time before and the realisation that with the new subscription costs, I will eventually find myself with trying to run MC 7 on Windows 9 or if I'm really unlucky Windows 8.1 as my hardware gives up the ghost as paying the yearly cost is not really an option as a infrequent hobby.

My question is, that as I have little intention of using Media Composer can I donate my license to some kind of educational institution, so it's not just sitting around unused?

I believe you can transfer a license to a new owner, folks sell them all the time, but for it to be offically recognised as transfered to the new owner Avid have to process it and there maybe a cost associated with that. I'd find somebody who wants it and let them sort it. Of course you only have till the year end to sort that or it will become locked to that version with no sensibly priced uopgrade route.

You can always contact me at VET as we're close by. We work with a lot of artists and "good cuases" so should be able to find a worthy new owner..
