Import a 24fps QT, audio out of sync

I have a 24fps m4v file of a DVD rip. When I import it in to Avid the audio drifts and is out of sync. My project is 1080P 23.976 Is there any way to properly import this quicktime or convert it so it will import and stay in sync? Thanks!

Re: Import a 24fps QT, audio out of sync

Chances are it's a 29.97 fps file flagged as 24 fps.  Is there a motion adapter on the clip in the timeline (green dot)?  If so, it's not really 23.976.  Here are some possible solutions:

    1.  Bring the file into a 1080/29.976 project and then use the 29.976 clip in the 23.976 project.  Try this first.

    2.  Use QT Change to force the frame rate to 23.976 or 29.976 and try reimporting.

    3.  Copy the file, strip off the audio and use the console command "ignoreqtrate true" to import every frame from the m4v file.  This may not give you what you want initially but you can use a motion adapter to adjust the frame rate to match the audio.

Must think of something clever to go here...
