Just found out after many attempts at exporting from MC using the Cineform Codec that "Yeah - there is that bug in Media Composer. We've contacted AVID but they have not responded..." (CineForm tech support). Avid gives the error ""Unknown codec error. Please make sure you've configured the 'Format Options...' from the Export Settings dialog." Yes, I have.
Anyone have success with this? Anyone know if this is on the bug list for 5.x? I have specific need to use this exact codec. I have no trouble exporting with any other codec.

This may be a stupid question, but have you installed the Cineform Neo Player on your Avid?

This error is after installing the new cineform "studio" software as specified by the 48HFP:
"You can get the CineForm codec by downloading the GoPro/CineForm Studio software here: http://gopro.com/3d-cineform-studio-software-download/ "
This is what the CineForm tech was referring to. I have removed it and installed Neo (trial version) and can get it to work for conversion, but not as a codec for AVID export. I get the same error.
Ronn,
I'm not familiar with that software, but we've used the Neo Player in the past and had no issues viewing rushes in Avid:

Don't know why it would be different with the Studio software, but might be worth uninstalling it and trying this...
Thanks Ra-ey. I don't really need to view anything with their viewer. I need to export a project as a quicktime using the cineform codec. Have you tried that with 5.5.2? If not, could you try and report back? (And I already uninstalled the studio software and installed the trial version of NEO, which as I said, still produces the same error with MC. It does, however, work to convert files using their HD-Link, outside of Avid.)
Hey Ronn, yeah we only use the Neo Player for the codec and not a viewer as well. Currently, the Avid with cineform on is in use by someone else so can't report back at the minute. Will have a look as soon as I can. Very strange though.
Just tried (v5.5.2) and had an error - one saying that my trial period for the codec had expired (I just downloaded it) and the other was a similar error to yours.
Sorry.
I finally had some small success using HD-Link (trial) converting a quicktime out of MC. The problem is the resulting file has audio about 8 seconds behind the video.
I have tested QT-export with Cineform Codec (GoPro-Cineform HD/4K/3D). It worked flawlessly from a HD720P50 timeline. However, the export is slow. For a 1:03 minute timeline (coded in DNxHD120), the encoding took 5:21 minute.
In another test, I exported a QT-Reference file from the same timeline, imported it into QT-Prof. and exported the file with Cineform Codec as above. In this case, the encoding took 2:49 minute.
If you need a QT-Cineform file format, I recommend o export a QT Reference and then use QT-Prof for transcoding to Cineform.
