I've got a half hour sequence composed of 1080i/50 media in a 1080i project. I deinterlaced this using Fluidmotion Progressive and I just love the results with the video. Fluidmotion is awesome! However, I have a short rolling title that was created prior to deinterlacing and this looks bad now (I did a video mixdown of the entire sequence before applying Fluidmotion Progressive).
Is there anyway I can recreate the rolling title to match the progressive/deinterlaced sequence? I need to export to Squeeze for DVD authoring and I'm trying to avoid having to deinterlace in Squeeze. The project type in MC is still 1080i/50.
Using MC 5.0.3.7r
Hi,
This is intuition, but I'd say the workflow should be to put the Fluidmotion effect on before you put the title on. I'd try exporting a short test sequence and burn it to DVD to test it out.

Use the original sequence for the rolling title section aand as Carl suggested apply the fluid motion to any background shots and render. Change your project settings 1080 25P render the rolling title.
Do a mixdown of this segment and edit this mixdown back into the main program mixdown.
Thanks Carl and Andrew for your replies
I've tried rendering a new title at 1080p and burned another DVD and unfortunately the improvement is only marginal. There's too many variables that could have influenced the title in this case - font type and size, etc. As I'm out of time with this project I've resorted to doing static titles instead. No harm done and the client is still happy.
However, for future reference, what would the correct workflow be? I'm trying to avoid having to deinterlace my 1080i sequence in Squeeze as I've been getting less the acceptable results. Fluidmotion looks great so I want to stick to using that and passing on progressive scan media to Squeeze.
I'm shooting 1080i or 25i and so I'm starting off with a 1080i/50 project. I want to end up with deinterlaced media that i can send straight to Squeeze. What would be the best way of doing that?
Create a new 1080/25p project and open your sequence in that. Create your rolling title there and put it over your sequence. It will need no further deinterlacing.
Thanks jwrl
So I do the following:
1) create 1080i/50 project, edit 1080i media without rolling title and then deinterlace using Fluidmotion Progressive. Render
2) create a new 1080p/25 project, open bin in 1080i project (now deinterlaced) with original sequence and add title
3) Export QT ref of sequence in 1080p project to Squeeze and create DVD media without need to deiterlace anything else?
Pretty much, except that you may find that Avid modifies your motion effects when you open the sequence in the 25p project. If that's the case you may need to do a video mixdown of the deinterlace in the 50i project before opening it in the 25p. Your steps would then be:
1) as above
1a) Mixdown the sequence video
2) and 3) as above.
