    Capture trouble

I'm trying to capture footage from my Canon XHA1s onto Avid.  I shot in 1080 24p, and can't figure out the capture settings to import into Avid.  I can control the camera as a deck, capture audio, but not video.  If anyone can help please let me know!

    Re: Capture trouble

Hi Jarzz: Avid Media Composer cannot capture Canon HDV tapes recorded @ 24 F with the TC button enabled. Your only solution is to effect a crash record procedure.

Step 1: Make sure you are in the correct project settings of 1440 x 1080 pixels.

Step:2: From your deck preset drop down list, select either the Canon XL or XH family presets.

Step 3: Disable capture from source TC button, while enabling the Video and Audio 1 and 2 buttons in your capture console.

Step 4: Click play from the deck control area of the capture console First.

Step5: Click the Red Record button and capture should commence. Click it again to stop the capture.

This broken Canon HDV 24 F capture situation is totally unacceptable and simply must be fixed by Avid A.S.A.P. We've had Canon HDV 24 F format since almost the very introduction of the HDV 2 format, and there is simply no excuse for this situation to linger at such a late date !

Best of Success with your Canon 24 F crash record ingest Jarzz,

Thanks so much mark, that worked great!  I was preparing to capture in some other program and import a raw quicktime file.
