I would like to complement Scott, Carl and Larry for putting in perfect words what is, also from my point of view, wrong with Avid. As the three of you combine technical and historic knowledge, language and communication skills (I can learn a lot from you guys) I hope Avid specifically pays attention to your last posts.
I hope you keep these kind of posts coming until Avid finally decides to do something about it.

One more thing. The buzz and hum is getting louder and louder about the new FCS this spring. If (or when) that happens and its a good release, Avid's marketing, sales and perception problems ratchet up dramatically, especially for the smaller shop, non-long form broadcast/film user. Couple of posts hit the Avid-L late last night:

Apple's announcement could not come at a worse time for AVID. With the unparalleled disaster of the Smart Tool (and other MC5 issues), the AVID user base at an all-time loyalty low.
I absolutely can't stand Mac computers. And even I am interested in what Apple has to offer this time. That should speak volumes about the absolute and immediate reform that is needed among Avid executives right now. Avid management - fix yourself. You're broken. At the very least, have someone take "communicating with your customers 101" at the local community college.
I spend most of my time between New York and Los Angeles. In Nebraska.
