Deinterlacing 1080i and 25i media in MC

Does anyone have a tried and tested method of deinterlacing 1080i and 25i media in MC5? I'm trying to avoid having to deintelace later in Squeeze and also when I export H.264 straight from MC, which I find quick and convenient for client previews.

Using MC 5.0.3.7r on Win 7

You can use Motion Effects. Set the input to interlaced and the output to progressive, and either use Blended Interpolated or FluidMotion.

In the past, I have used SpeedRamp as well.

Thanks Job. I keep the project format to 1080i or 25i as it was originally created?

I've used Fluidmotion for slow-mo's and the results are amazing!

I'd stick to the project format you were working in. If you need to apply the effect to an entire sequence, it would be best to do a video mixdown, and put the effect on that mixdown. FluidMotion is great, but takes a long time to render. Also, do some testing to determine which type of effect you like best.

If you're starting out with 1080i, and your H264 are very small, you may also consider just exporting single fields.
