Just to give users some update about this topic:
exFAT doesn't work well with AVID on Mac. I'm unable to capture DV tape to exFAT formatter HDD, or consolidate footage. In the other hand, when I import files, I can select my exFAT partition, and AVID will create MXF files (and write, of course!) to that same exFAT partition. Strange.
I use exFAT for low-res proxies only to edit on the go with flash drives, but for that purpose it works fine on Windows. Haven't yet tried MC Mac yet.
I've also tried the MacDrive/Paragon/NTFS-3G routes, too. I preferred MacDrive on Windows for its decent reliability and performance.
I experienced directory corruption when using Paragon a few times, and those incidents scared me away from it.
NTFS-3G (freeware) is really slow, so I don't use that often either.
I see this is an old thread, but I wanted to alert folks searching for info about Paragon HFS+
The product damaged my system.
Using Paragon HFS+ for Windows resulted in two HFS+ devices being corrupted.
In Windows the volumes are still available read and write, but none of the devices' volumes are available in Mac. Disk Utility sees the devices, the volumes are grayed out, and Disk Utility cannot repair them.
Defintely not recommended.
lezouave ... what version of OSX and what make & model drive(s)?

We used to use Paragon on our PCs and it worked well. Then windows 7 SP1 came out and it wouldn't install.
The replacement for it wasn't nearly as well featured and we ahd all sorts of issues with it.
We abaondoned Paragon on the PC side and switched to Mac Drive which is much more stable. Not perfect but good enough.
We also use ExFAT for some transfer work but the lack of backup FAT table make it vunerable to unrecoverable data loss and that's happened a few times. We do make sure no ExFAT drive has data that isn't safe elsewhere.

My experience a few years ago with Mac Drive was good. No issues. At this point I am a bit gun shy about using any file sytem adapter.
Very nasty experience. I am watching the Time Machine restore right now, it's chugging along normally, so I am hopeful there wiollbe no data loss. Just time lost.
Yes, I had a similar experience with Paragon HFS on Win7 since my last post. But not that cathastrophal like you with really loosing data. Just repeatedly corrupted filesystems. But luckily everytime reapairable on the mac side with disc util.
I would sum up my experiences like this:
Use Paragon HFS on Windows just for read access, always copy your files to a native (NTFS) or a Network drive to work with them. (Avid Console: "Alldrives=1" I think) That way Paragon works ok for me.
Be aware to mount/unmount the drives properly!
Especially I never leave a (HFS) eSata drive plugged in during booting (caused file corruption or blue screens several times here with different WD Mybook Drives and Lacie Drives, but I think this hardly depends on how your particular BIOS handles the Drive during boot process).
If you really have to work from the SAME physical external drive with Mac AND PC for any reason (which I would not recommend):
then better format the drive with NTFS and use Paragon NTFS on the Mac Side. Performance is ok. Thats way more solid in my experience. It's also lacking the ability to repair the disc on Mac (like the most solutions, you have to go to the windows machine for that), but one will ralrely need that since it is more solid. Just make shure again to mount and unmount the drive always properly and everything is fine.

Any software that repeatedly corrupts file systems repeatedly should be uninstalled and avoided forever, along with anything else from that developer.
