Re: What is this error message?

Found on the KB using DSM as the keyword in the search Error: Exception: AMPI subsystem error, ErrorMessage:DSM error code eDSMError_SendMessageErr,|AudioMixPathComponent::DisconnectOutputSection in AudioMixPath.cpp: 1007 [368731] An error occurs when working with Audio in Media Composer 5, NewsCutter 9, and Symphony 5

Why do I get the following error when working with audio in MC 5, NC 9, or Symphony 5:

This error can occur when using Media Composer 5, NewsCutter 9, or Symphony 5.

    1. When Using the Sound Soap Pro RTAS Plugin

Using the Sound Soap Pro RTAS Plugin in a sequence can cause this error. Please use the AudioSuite to apply this plugin, and od not apply it via RTAS.

    2. When fast editing in the timeline

Sometimes doing fast editing (scrubbing, JKL, etc.) in the timeline or source monitor will cause this error. This issue was resolved in MC 5.0.3, Symphony 5.0.3, and NewsCutter 9.0.3

    3. During launch of the application.

This error can occur at the "Initializing AudioSuite plugins" stage of launch. There are a number of fixes for this issue. Please see AMPI Sub System Error while Launching Media Composer, Symphony, or NewsCutter [377091]Also, in some instances on the Mac, this has been resolved by uninstalling Media Composer, repairing disk permissions with the Disk Utility, and re-installing.

Re: What is this error message?

    Well... close... but no cigar.

As I noted earlier... this occurs when opening up the 7th (not the 8th as I initially posted) pop-up monitor.

    I am running MC 5.0.3 ...

Can anyone test this issue out with MC 4.0 version.... or, an MC version that is using the most recent patchs installed?

To duplicate the error... simply open up 7 or more pop-up monitors in succession...

I have my "Bin Settings - Current" ...set to... "Double-click loads object in:"   ...as....

"New Pop-up Monitor "  - not Soruce or Record Monitor.   I double click the bin video frame to open the pop-up monitors.

I would like to know if this is a bug... or related my system configuration.

Running Newscutter 8.0.2 (equivalent to MC 4.0.2)

Set bin settings for "double click opens as new pop-up monitor". Opened a dozen pop-up monitors in a row - no error screen.

Newscutter Nitris DX 9.5.3.5 * Media Composer 5.5.3.6 (At Home on PC running XP Pro) * Symphony 6.5.2.1 (At home on MacBook Pro3,1 running 10.7.2) * Interplay... [view my complete system specs]

Yes I can continue to work, on opening a new clip I get the error message, as well as I occasionally get it while editing, it's annoying and shouldn't happen, but by clicking OK I can continue to work.

Re: What is this error message? Bug?

    Hi,

I was wondering if you ever found an answer to this error message.  I just recently updated/upgraded etc to MC 5.0.3 and get this error message about the 11th pop up. I can click okay and keep working but once I click on another clip the error message comes back up.

I did notice if I change my setting back to opening the clips in the source/record monitor it doesn't happen but personally I don't like to edit that way.

The Exception: AMPI error .... with regard to opening up multiple pop-up windows in Script Bin... issue has not been resolved that I know of...

What I know is that this error was also present in MC 5.0.0.  However, I have not tried any patches with MC 5.0.3 to see if this is still an issue.... my best guess is that this was not fixed by any patches, but based on the problems I have seen with patches lately... I have decided to wait until there is a problem with MC5.0.3 that I can't live with before I apply any patches.
