love, Love, LOVE, LOOOVE MC5 AMA!!!

Are you kidding me?  I plugged in a hard drive with a folder structure containing a ton (a TON) of subfolders, and each ove has 20 clips in it... a huge variety including QuickTime, AVCHD, and so on... Imported just the main folder and told it to create bins based on the folder structure and naming system...

It just took me 10-times as long to type it as it did to do it.  It just WORKS beautifully.

I then dragged all the media (in the order it was shot) into a timeline and did a video mixdown of the whole thing.  Selected "Reveal File", and Whammo!  The result is an MXF file of the dailies which I sent to the director via my FTP.

    Thank you AVID!

I assume this means you only plan to use the mixdown as your source from here on out?

Naaa, it was just as a means of showing the director what he shot so he can make story notes/changes based on his likes/dislikes.  We'll never reference it again.

    It just WORKS beautifully.

Until it encounters a filename with a non-ASCII character, e.g. an accented letter or an umlaut. Those are very common in much of the world, but they will cause AMA linking to fail.

I just had to retype 100+ filenames because of this limitation...

Other than that, I really like AMA too Smile
