    Quicktime export - fixed yet?

    Hello

I am still unable to export to Quicktime files in MC50.3.2 - this is a rudimentary requirement and it is something that needs to be prioritised as urgent.

Or did this get fixed and I missed it?

    Thanks

Wow. So many details missing from this post.

I don't even know where to start.  it's like saying to a mechanic "My car makes a noise, why doesn't Toyota fix it?"

I often find that having the correct version of QT and sometimes creating a brand new Avid User helps with QT Export problems.

Those posts are from other people, what are you specifically doing when this error comes up? What format are you trying to export? What codec? Where are you sending it to? What is the source material in the timeline?

Re: Quicktime export - fixed yet?

Changing  "safe mode" thiing in QuickTime "preferences?" doesn’t help.

This work-flow work fine with MC 3.6 but not MC 5.0.3,.

    Format setting: 25i PAL

Capture from DV-tape, Res: DV 25 420 MXF

    Clip Video become: DV 25 420 i(PAL)

Export As: QuickTime Movie, same as Source, no problem.

In order to import new format like AVCHD we dared to upgrade (fearing that any upgrade would course troubles, it proved to be right):

    WIN 7 64bit

QT v7.6.6 as recommended by AVID will not install on a 64bit platform so it had to be QT 7.6.7

    MC 5.0.3

Now when trying to export to QuickTime Movie, same as Source

MC 5.0.3 will report error code:

Exception: GenVideoExpConsumer::PreLoad() has a NULL input. Probably failed negotiation.

We are a film school with 13 AVID MC5 and 115 student stalled.

Re: Quicktime export - fixed yet?

Yes, the information provided above is pretty much my workflow - the export to quicktime when same as source is selected seems to be the problem.

Except I am on Windows XP 32 Bit professional and my version of QT is the recommended 7.6.6 version and my Nvidia Quadro FX18 drivers are those recommended by Avid.

Re: Quicktime export - fixed yet?

    Hi,

I'm having the same problems when export Quick Time Same as Source.

I just put a new video track on top of the edit and fill it with an unrendered effect, like resize, which has no effect on my edit. After this, the export seems to be working with my engine.

    Kind regards

Re: Quicktime export - fixed yet?

    Hello Marcus

That workaround seems to work! - But just a quick question - what made you try that?

I am all for trying things and looking for workarounds but I have to say I dont think I would ever have thought of doing that to see if it worked!

Anyway this seeems to be a common enough problem for Avid to resolve as a fix hopefully sooner rather than later.

    Regards

    Hello Marcus

Your workaround work! You are a genius!

    Thank you

Let’s hope AVID fix this buck. It is embarrassing to teach it for my 115 student.

This buck appears when captured DV-tape, to Res: DV 25 420 MXF are attempted exported to QT.

It does not appear when consolidated from P2 to Res: DV 25 420 MXF or

AVCHD to Res: DV 25 420 MXF.

Re: Quicktime export - fixed yet?

Buck in MC 5.0.3 preventing export (QuickTime Movie same as Source) codec (DV 25 420 MXF). Reporting error code: Exception: GenVideoExpConsumer::PreLoad() has a NULL input. Probably failed negotiation.

Marcus wisely suggested a workaround, by placing an un-rendered resize effect on a new video track, and it will work.

The drawback is export time is increased to 6.6 x sequence time.

The advantage using (QuickTime Movie same as Source) export is the fast export time.

Using MC 3.6 the export time is 0.4 x sequence time.

This workaround will cause the export time to be 13 time slower!

I hope that AVID are aware of this buck

Re: Quicktime export - fixed yet?

Adding my voice to this thread, now that I have found it!  The Exporting from MC5.0.3 has become a nightmare.  Not only does the "same as source" mode produce error messages, it also trunkates seemingly OK timelines so that shots are missing.  The adding of a filter, as posted above, increases export times to a point where it is more than just painful.

Then there seem to be inconsistancies in the QT DV PAL export settings where a file created at native dimensions 720x576 works OK, the same settings put into 1024x576 produce interlacing issues...  I'm also exporting "upper field first" in the 720 setting to create a working file where I alway used to export lower field first as it was DV PAL???

I have wasted more time exporting and re exporting in different settings trying to create consistent results under 5.0.3 than I have on any other MC version...

Re: Quicktime export - fixed yet?

Yes and no - The latest patch does remove the appearance of the original error message - but it does not fix the problem of not being able to export a QT reference file for me:

    1. If I export a QT reference file with an Audio mixdown (absolute must as if you dont all your audio work is ignored) I get an error message that says : "Exception PGLUE-IMPOLITE_PORT_NUMBER" (I was aware that port numbers could be polite / impolite / rude or anything).

    2. If I export without audio mixdown - then the error that I get is "Track 1 not found"

Any advice on resolving these would be greatly appreciated - nearly finished a big job for a mining company and will need to export it for encoding shortly and am not sure what I am going to do if I cannot export it!!!

    Thanks
