An important reminder to everyone: From now on, patch file downloads will be made available at the main download center. The older patch download center is being retired and will soon be deactivated. For all patches from 5.0.3.9 forward, please go the main download center, sign into your account, and click on "Avid Editor Patches" from the link list.

Just a heads up here.  I don't know whether anyone else has experienced the same problem, or even if it is a problem.

I just attempted to log on to that page using Chrome, but had forgotten my password.  I attempted to reset it using the link, but the generated text that you're supposed to mimic would not display even after reload.

I then accessed the same page using IE8.  This time it displayed with no issues at all.  Do we have a compatability issue with Chrome, or was this just a one-off?

John, can you PM Adam Kranitz on this? It might be related to another user's recent account log in problem.

I have installed 5.0.3 full and patch 9 on a clean machine. It works ok.
Question about the HelperAppsPC_5.0.3.7.zip file, including patches for EDL, Filmscribe, Log exchange, Medialog and Metasync: is there a need to install these as well, or can I disregard these patches?

 Reason for asking is that I don't see any patches for all these applications within the "9" patch folder. But there must have been a reason to have these patches with update 7 (although, strange enough, the files within the zip file shows *** 27.0.3.5.msp).

I think you can disregard those, as each new patch contains the total cumulative contents of all preceding patches.

That would be true if there has been new patches for all these mentioned applications. But only MC itself has new patches after 7, the others not .... .
So rather unclear. But I won't run these until someone tells me to do ...

Everything is on the Downlaod Center ( login and password required) and has been for a while now.   Go to the main avid home page and select the login on the right and access your master account.  From there you will see a section on linking community and DL.  I see that you have linked your community account but I dont see you have a DL account.  You can requedst one from that page or if you do have one using a different email, then you cal link to it.  Once you have done that, you can access Commuity and DL through one sign on.

Sorry, Marianna, to bother you with this,

but I cannot find a way to get into the download center. I have successfully linked my comunity account, but when I want to link the download account, it tells me wrong psw or username. so I ask for new psw, never get it. so I open new account and am told no way, after I fill in all the form. gone through these circles umpteen times now. I can change the comunity psw and everything, but on the download or master account it just sends me catching my tail.

Please help a newbie unfamiliar with the patching process...

I found the patches OK in the download centre but am slightly confused.  I have MC v5.5.1 (I thought I had purchased 5.5.2 but whatever) and so am thinking about installing patch 5.5.1-5.5.2 (especially after reading the patch's ReadMe).  But I see also there exists a stand-alone 5.5.2 installer.  Would I be better off uninstalling MC and using that, or just go ahead and apply the patch i.e. is it equivalent (as one might hope).  Then, I also notice a separate patch for Help-Files.  I guess then that the software patch doesn't include the help-files patch (which I guess is needed because this patch changes defaault keyframe behavious etc.).

Doing the two patches (software and Help) sounds easiest, and the stand-alone might only be useful if I absolutely have to re-install from scratch (as I recently had to do following a disk crash). is that right?

Go for the 5.5.2 full installer. Your procedure should be:

1) Deactivate license on current 5.5.1 version (Special Menu in Composer)

2) Uninstall 5.5.1

3) Install 5.5.2 full version

4) Reactivate license
