Boris FX message after upgrading to FX1800

    Hello

I have upgraded my MC5.03 (with the patch applied) to a Quadro FX1800 graphics card - 768Mb ram

I have also ensured that I am at Quicktime 7.6.6 (aka the recommended version) and my Nvidia drivers are at 190.38 so all seems to be in spec.

But when I open an MC5 project that has Boris BCC 3Dtext effects I get this message - see attached file.

My screen resolution is the native 1680 x 1050 and worked with a Geforce 7600 card so am not keen on changing to a lower resolution - I would rather go back to an unsupported card.

Also the BCC 3D text does not appear in the effects window and does not render.

I have also tried this with the other Nvidia drivers supplied by Avid - (182.65) - same problem

    Anyone know what this means.

    Thanks

    Neil

Not at my sys right now Neil , but about this,

the BCC 3D text does not appear in the effects window

be sure that filtered layer ( or something similar ) is selected, the default might be the underlying track

Yes, of course, thinking closer of it, you should always see the rext no matter what setting you have.

Will take a look at this in a couple of hours if noone else is able to assist before that

Re: Boris FX message after upgrading to FX1800

Just an update - If I apply the BCC extruded text directly onto a clip - the entire clip goes black and there is no display at all in the monitor window.

And the first time I click on the effect the message box above appears

It appears that most of the other non-3D BCC effects work just fine.

Is there any way to test the GL settings inside of MC?

Inside of Avid FX the hardware tests all pass fine.

Go to the Video display settings in your control panel and check that your card is enabled for rendering

Re: Boris FX message after upgrading to FX1800

So I am at my sys now and all works as expected, my dual screen res is 1280 x 1024 , has always been, even in the Liquid days.

We seem to have different drivers, strange, I am also using the 190 version of the drivers.

If your error message says that 1600 is max for quadro cards and dual screens, so be it but I find it strange that you not even are seeing the text.

You can also see in my snapshot what my 64 bits OS does with the cards mem, it is the same card.

Re: Boris FX message after upgrading to FX1800

    Hello

How does one go about enabling rendering in the control panel?

Most of my options in the Nvidia control panel are not available unless I specifically create an application profle - but even then there is no "enable rendering option"

Just an update - I reformatted my C drive and then rebuilt the editing workstation from scratch.

This has resolved the 3D BCC effects problem - but the message above does come up when I scrub over or add the Boris 3D effect, so there must be a way to make enable OpenGL by default.

    Thanks

    Neil

How does one go about enabling rendering in the control panel?

Media Composer Control Panel - Video display output

Most of my options in the Nvidia control panel are not available

I have never touched those settings

but the message above does come up when I scrub over or add the Boris 3D effect

If you still have 1650 as res the message about telling that 1600 is max seems to be correct
