DirectX - Is it important to MC5?

With the installation of a new graphics card (FX1800 - I am now "in spec") I have been verifying that all the required components are at the right spec and version.

I notice that there is no specification for DirectX - is there a role for DirectX in MC5 or does it not really matter since the application is based on Quicktime?

    Just wondering

DX comes with your OS. Windows 7 ships with DX11. It is an integral part of MC, all playback is done with it as far as I know.
