    editorbelgaq and Luca...

It kind of does that but you have to search a bit for it.  I will make a recommendation to the marketing folks to have it drive a little cleaner to the site.

    Thanks

    thanks Marianna!

And who other than Marianna could have made this thread the "Most Replied Thread on the Avid Media Composer - PC Forum" !

With more than 509 replies, (and much more in other related threads) it stands out that the announcement of MC5 is the biggest TALK IN TOWN!!!

    Hey team...

Good news...  they are changing the direct and sending directly to the forums.

woo hoo... see some things can be changed Luca. All you need to do is ask and if possible we will try to do it.

Just about to swizzle a post on the graphics card questions you have been all asking in the hardware advice thread...

Re: Avid Media Composer 5 announced!

Hy Marianna, the community is great, Avid should really make the most out of it; as for the different links all leading to the same page, I find it confusing, at first it looks like if there's a lot of info, but when You actually are driven to the very same page whichever link You click on You get the impression that there's lack of info, and the question "what the...?" arises; this is my perception at least, others may have different opinions, but thanks for listening, as a long time Avid user I know that things were different in the past, and it's really nice to see improvements in the relationship between Avid and the editors.

Re: Avid Media Composer 5 announced!

Luca and all, this is perfect feedback because now when we come across a similar situation we can point at actual use cases where people did not find links all the same helpful. This is the type of data that does not come out of web analytics; there's no replacement for direct customer feedback.

I wish we could do user testing for all our web changes, but time and resources are always against us. Therefore these forums and the community are priceless.

To ask if it will be "back" implies that it was once possible.

    and to quote BLKDOG, Todd:

Basically, the feature you enjoyed was a mistake. It's something that we are working on but was not supposed to be turned on in the released versions because there are some bugs with it and we cannot yet support it across both platforms; something the company is required to do. Engineering has committed to bringing the feature back ASAP and we will try to keep you updated. As soon as the bugs are smoothed out and we can support QT ref on both the Mac and PC, the feature will return.

Ok, so it is another below 4000 SEK for the upgrade to MC5 including the bundle if you have to use Windows 7 as OS, the price info was given to us by a swedish reseller, thanks Robban, at the presentation of MC 5 in Stockholm this tuesday.

For those money you also are getting an updated version of Avid Dvd.

Re: Avid Media Composer 5 announced!

Forgive me Marianna, but I'm confused & I have read this thread through, but I cannot be certain what I get as a liquid to MC exchangee if I wait until MC5 is shipping.

Do I get, in the box, MC4 with the versions of the other software packages that were current when the liquid offer was made, eg Sorrenson 5?  Or do I get, as some have suggested / speculated any newly released versions that are current when MC5 launches?

Also, (sorry Marianna) if lots of us Liquidites wait until June 12 to take up the wonderful offer, and there is insufficient store stock, and the system won't take orders if there is insufficient stock, will we be ok with the 30th June deadline?

    Thank you !

Re: Avid Media Composer 5 announced!

John this is just an update posting to the conversion offer Liquid people received back in March if they were eligible.

    1. Everyone who is eligible and buys a Liquid to MC kit through June 30th 2010 will receive Media Composer v4, QuickStart Guide and the v4 Production Suite. That is the original offer and it still stands through 6/30/10.

Waiting until June 10 or after nets you NOTHING - sorry for the caps but I have posted this many times.  If you order the Liquid to MC v4 kit after June 10th thru to the end 6/30/10 you will still receive the Media Composer v4, QuickStart Guide and the v4 Production Suite.

    2. Everyone who buys the Liquid to Media Composer Kit is ALSO eligible to download a free copy of MC v5 (editing software only) IF they bought the Liquid to MC v4 kit between 3/10/10 and 6/30/10, register the MC v4 kit at www.avid.com/register and they download the MC v5 by 6/30/10. A nyone trying to download the MC v5 after 6/30/10 will not be able to as the page will be removed.

    3. The only difference between the v4 Production Suite you receive with the offer and the v5 Production Suite which ships with new MC v5, Symphony v5 and NewsCutter v9 systems is a new version of Sorenson Squeeze v6 and SmartSound v5.5.2.    Avid FX is the same and BCC and Avid DVD have minor bug fixes.  The BCC version you get in v4 which is BCC 6 can be updated on the Boris site for free to 6.0.7.  If you want the new v5 Production Suite, you would need to buy it off the store as a standalone item or contact the vendor of the application you would like to upgrade and do so through them.

As for stock, there are 200 pieces on their way to Europe and 200 in US/Canada slated for next week.  We will have plenty on had to cover orders through the end of June - when the offer expires.

I am grateful to you for that.  That was my understanding too, however I had been informed otherwise off-line, so just wanted to ask the most knowledgeable person.

I shall place my order.  :)
