adam5000: I'd love to see some cool integration of MC and other Avid line products with Euphonix controllers.
Yeah, Protools I've know about. It's Euphonix/MC integrations I'd like to see (without speculating)...
Then stick around.....the times they are 'a changin'.
In agreement, Unity. In Disagreement, Discussion. In all things, Charity.
From Zappa to Dylan in one thread. Not too bad at all...
Randall L Rike:We've been asking Avid to integrate Control Surfaces into DS and Symphony for Color Grading for many years.
Yes we have and Avid responds with an open letter about the Euphonix acquisition:
"we plan to maintain and further enhance the EuCon protocol, which brings powerful Euphonix hardware control to multiple applications and platforms. Our goal is to make EuCon an open industry standard that greatly expands the compatibility between Euphonix control surfaces and a wide range of Avid® and third-party audio and video applications, including Pro Tools® and Media Composer®."
Not a word about Symphony or DS? Unbelievable. Don't get me wrong, I think it would be cool to have the control surfaces availble across all the Avid NLE's, but the loudest voices requesting control surface integration have been from the Symphony and DS users. To not include that user base in the open letter shows an utter disregard for those customers.
Thanks Gary & Marianna for the answering the questions. For the curious, it's blue moon funding. New hardware now; new software next fiscal year (June 1) for a one box solution. (i.e. Avid by day; encode for delivery by night.) Just trying to determine which parts will work & which will cause BSOD.
Larry, I changed the subject line in Quick Reply. I imagined my questions to be sufficiently specific to warrant a specific subject line yet fell within the conversation of the MC5 announcement & not worthy of yet another thread. I've copy/pasted the subject line back to the original. I did not imagine it would send anybody into the twilight zone.
Best,

Sorry about the tease - we were a little too aggressive publishing out new web content (working through the kinks of the new content management system). The link will go to the Media Composer family page. I believe the homepage will get updated with the new flash piece on Friday. Until then Dan is still the Automator man.
Not to get your hopes up too high, I also believe that there will not be any substantial new news with the specifics to MC5 in this homepage refresh - it's just a teaser in place to support a new marketing asset. The MC Software page is still the best resource (other than Marianna) for current MC5 news.

Thanks for that... I was wondering... on the MC Software page all the links leed to the same page...
Yes, we really want you to view the features tab...
It just comes down to a tactic for leading people to information. The opposite approach is to have an unlinked list of the same text but then at the end of the list have a link "see what's new in MC5" that points to the features page. We're just trying different things to see how the traffic responds.
Since I have your attention, what was your initial reaction - did you think something was wrong; did you feel something was missing; did you feel misled?
In case I haven't said it before - thanks. We really do appreciate all feedback (product, web, or otherwise).

I really thought it would connect directly to this Video Community..

So did I...
editorbelgaq and Luca...
It kind of does that but you have to search a bit for it. I will make a recommendation to the marketing folks to have it drive a little cleaner to the site.
Thanks

Made the recommendation... lets see what kind of response that nets us.
Stay tuned.
