Again, you do have the possibilities to export to iso files when you are creating dvd discs.
In your disc creating dialogue, you have a pulldown list for dvd or bd and another pulldown list for physical discs, folders or image files
To burn physical discs from image files or folders, Avid Dvd can handle this itself.

As Tomas (Mjolnarn) rightly said you can still make .iso files for your DVD production>There have been no changes there in either DVDitProHD or AvidDVD.
The changes that have been made are that .iso files creation for Blu-Ray has been removed. As far as I know this removal has to do with the Rules and regulations set up by the Blu-Ray Association (I am not sure of the actual name).Sonic Solutions, which is an industry leader in the authoring applications for Blu-Ray (and DVD) production must follow those rules..gi files are only connected to Blu-Ray production, and if you use them correctly they work well. But Tomas (and many others) miss the handiness of having a single .iso wrapper that contains all the files needed for the Blu-Ray disc.Because of a slightly different workflow I only use "Burn to volume" when I create a Blu-ray disc. For DVDs I still use "Write Disc Image" which gives me an .iso fileJust out of curiosity, was your Trouble-ticket answered by Sonic Solutions Support, or by Roxio Support?
I hope you find the option of burning your .iso files again. It should be there.........

Dear Douglas,
Thank you for this information.
I apologize for being obtues or dense.... but I just can't seem to find the step by step procedure for doing this in the Sonic manual.
If I make a volume... then how do I make a disk from this volume.
or alternatively
how do I make a Disk from this collection of gi files.
I just don't see where this procedure is discribed.
SincerelyMark Pirtle
ps
here is the response from Roxio customer care.
Dear John Thank you for contacting Roxio Customer CareWhat version of Dvdit do you have now that you installed the update? Can you send the specific details and we will investigate. As far as we are aware verison 6.4 does support .iso!If the information provided does not resolve your issue simply update your web ticket with a detailed explanation with the steps you have tried and any error messages you receive.RegardsFionahttp://support.roxio.comHave you tried our online self-service tools? The fifth Avid Dvd link from Douglas first 100 tutorials, situated at the top of this forum, might give you some answers

Mark,There are a few things confusing me and I expect that they confuse Tomas too.Are you using AvidDVD by Sonic or Sonic-Roxio DVDitProHD?
Roxio Support and Sonic Support are 2 different support teams located in different continents!Sonic is professional, Roxio leave a lot to be desired.
To be honest I am not sure where AvidDVD by Sonic get their support.I will ask Marianna about this.Because of the "by Sonic" in the name I would hope that owners get support from Sonic Solutions and not Roxio.I have had Roxio support in the past, but now I have from Sonic and the difference is like night and day.
Also I am confused (and I am sure Tomas is too) as to whether you are talking about DVDs or Blu-Ray... or both?
This tutorial was done in DVDItProHD before the Blu-Ray iso option was removed. But it should help you find the DVD iso workflow
markle77074:Dear John Thank you for contacting Roxio Customer CareWhat version of Dvdit do you have now that you installed the update?
Another bit of confusion! Are you using DVDit and not DVDitProHD?John or Mark? Just looking at the funny side.I think I have a tutorial that shows how to deal with .gi filesI will try and find it.
Although I have the AVID DVD i "upgraded" to Sonic DVDit Pro HD. I have version 6.4
I just tried to make a .iso for bluray with this and the menus ALLOWED the selection....yet when the daylong process was completed I eventually found some .gi files that had the right time/date stamp on them. but as you discribe.. no .iso
I was unable to find the procedure in the Sonic manual for how to make a disk from either a group of .gi files
or a workflow for making blu ray folders then using this folder to make a disk.
Thank you so much for this help. Sonic should pay you for clarifying what is not clear (to me at least) in their documentation.
Sincerely
John Mark Pirtle
I use ImgBurn to create Blu-Ray discs from folders - it's a very effective (and surprisingly - free) utility. I've been using version 2.5.0.0 for quite a while now (there's a new version 2.5.1.0, but I haven't tried it). The webpage is a bit confusing but if you scroll down to the revision history section (called 'News') you can find a link to download the latest version this little utility.
Hope this helps.
Steve

Steve, as Avid dvd has it´s own burning app, the easiest way might be to just load the folders or the image file, iso or the first gi file, into this app, it seems to be the only app, by the way, that can handle the gi files.
Hi Tomas - I've never used a DVD authoring app to do my burning. They're typically clunky and less efficient when you are burning multiple copies, but yes - you could use Avid DVD to burn the disc. In my case, I use an external Blu-Ray burner connected via USB 2.0 and Avid DVD doesn't recognize it :-)
More recently I've ditched Avid DVD for Encore CS4 (and now CS5). Personal preference but I prefer the way Encore works with the other Adobe apps (plus Encore supports the pop-up menu for Blu-Rays).
Cheers
I'm having a problem with AVID DVD BY SONIC version 6.4.4:
I have created various interlaced output files from Avid Media Composer 6.5.3, but every DVD I burn from Avid DVD turns out progressive.
Here's an example workflow:
I have verified that the QT Ref file is interlaced, but once the file has been through Avid DVD I end up without interlace.
I have looked in all the options and preferences within Avid DVD, and haven't found anything that would allow me to change this output to interlaced. I have also tried different resolution for the video mixdown (although I don't believe this is the issue, since my QT Ref file is interlaced.
I have alternative workflows using other DVD burning software, but I like the convenience and (presumed) quality advantage of being able to take a QT Ref into Avid DVD. But if it doesn't work...
One thing I haven't yet been able to verify is if it's field-order related.
Any thoughts?
I don't know if it's related, but I have found that whenever I export DNxHD QT reference files for encoding in TMPGEnc, TMPGEnc always sees then as progressive rather than interlaced - even though it's come from a 1080i/50 project. SD Avid Meridian QT reference files always come up correctly as interlaced. I always have to go to the clip properties tab in TMPGEnc and manually change the DNxHD files to interlaced.
Is it an Avid bug??
And further to your question, and because Avid DVD is such an ordinary (putting it nicely) piece of software for pro users, I nearly always encode my files to constant bitrate MP2 in TMPEnc for use in Avid DVD. It's faster, more reliable, and avoids Avid DVDs transcode.
Thanks, bastian. I shall do some tests without using DNxHD and see if that gets me anywhere.
