Thanks for all the help on how to install/activate ... it is no longer academic ... I have just ordered YAY!! I feel like a schoolboy who's just been accepted for senior school/uni! (And at my age, that's a miracle...)
Reading the advice here - and seeing that the sold product is earlier by the odd decimal point, and having spent a few days customising the layout and setting up tutorial exercises... I shall simply activate the product (I think the option to do that may be on the opening screen anyway). Then load up the other stuff ... bingo!
(I have to say though that the ordering process was a bit scary - the special ordering code was rejected in one place (perhaps - more likely - I was trying to enter the code in a space meant for a different promo or something') and the 'reduced price' didn't real;ly show up till the end invoice. Good price - we have to pay tax here which pumped it up a bit, but that's not Avid's fault. Sickens me that Brown the GoldDigger wants a cut on this! And, final bit of good news - Avid accepts PayPal, which is the painless way of paying - no hoops to go through as with the credit card people these days).
Now the fun starts in earnest.

Hi Larry,
Larry Rubin: camoscato:As far as I know all you're going to be doing is entering an activation code so the software will be activated. Aside from the activation issue, the trial version isn't different from the boxed version. But Carl, will simply activating the software license deactivate the trial version countdown clock and make the license permanent? Or are there other steps that need to be performed?

My read of it is you enter the system ID and the serial number and that turns the trial version into a real version (I keep wanting to make a Pinocchio joke about becoming a real boy). That said, I'm still using a dongle, so I'm not basing this on personal experience; just what I've read in the install guide.
ciao,Carl

Or, when the trial clock expires, does the Avid turn into a pumpkin?

Hi Dave,
I am Greek but respect is respect everywhere.
Yo man. Happy to see you around!
Good to hear fom you. How true - but it definitely shows up big time in Jamaica. I was in Greece 35 years ago - b4 you were around I believe. Great place - we need to go back.
I sure appreciate your postings. They and other postings in this Liquid converters forum as well as the many excellent tutorials will make this transition so much easier. I've been learning Vegas and this kind of forum there would have been really helpful (although not that many Liquid people on that forum). But now I feel MC is the only way to go - and going that way I am. I am very excited both over the upgrade details and the product.
Ευχαριστώ
