Finding out on behalf of a friend about upgrading a license from Media Composer 10 Meridien system to the new MC4, whether this is possible and what would be the cost? Based in Bangkok, Thailand, would like to know who I could contact from Avid (preferrably via e-mail at first) to find out about upgrading. Or is there any other information someone may have that could be helpful.
Thank you.
I can't answer for Avid, and since it is now past business hours on a Friday you may not hear from anyone until Monday. Perhaps it would be best to PM Marianna, but it is the weekend and she's entitled to some rest!
No, that will not be possible without buying a new computer system, as the hardware architecture is completely different now from what it was in the Meridien days. See the Media Composer System Requirements.

Larry, I think the question is about updating the license, not the machine.

Oops, missed that word. My bad. Still, a new computer and additional hardware will be necessary. I made that point just in case the OP might think he could run the new software on a Meridien system.

Funny The original machine is six feet under but the dongle was given to a "responsible" person - I am told. Thus knowing if it is possible to upgrade the license then I can report back what the cost will be, whether upgrade pricing or a full new license.
A new machine is always nice though.
I'm pretty sure the upgrade is possible (we got a quote for a v11 Meridian MC to Media Composer 3.5 software) - I think the pricing is 'off the ratecard' though. I assume Avid Singapore would be your regional area, maybe worth contacting them directly?
