I expect this question has been asked and answered, but I am unable to find it.
We need to export our material into an HD format that FinalCutPro will accept.
We have tried exporting it using the DVC ProHD (DV100) qtx, expecting that to work, but apparently it does not.
It occurs to me that our DVC ProHD qtx, which we got in "Avid Codecs LE" is probably not exactly like the DVC ProHD codec qtx in FCP for MAC and that if I could get the "Avid Codecs LE" package for MAC and install it on FCP system, FCP would then have matching qtx files and so be able to use the DVC ProHD files we provide.
Unfortunately, I can't find the "Avid Codecs LE" package for MAC (actually I can't find it for PC either, good thing I have that). It just does not appear in any search I have tried.
So... three things:
1) Is there a "Avid Codecs LE" for MAC?
2) Am I correct that installing "Avid Codecs LE" on the FCP system will (or at least is likely to) allow FCP to read the DVC ProHD file we export from PC based Avid MC?
3) Where the heck is the "Avid Codecs LE" package for MAC (or PC)?
Thanks, JP

Scroll to the bottom of the web page. Installers are there.

Thank you for that.
One Question (question 2) remains.
Will installing these codecs allow MAC based FCP to read the DVC ProHD files we export from our PC based Avid MediaComposer system?
Thanks,
JP

Yes. If you export DVCProHD from your PC Avid you'll want to check the "Use AvidDV Codec" box. This will encode the file as AvidDV100 (which is Avid's DVCProHD codec). With the Avid codecs installed on your FCP system you'll be able to read them.
However, if you can, test this:
Export without using Avid's codec and see if the FCP system can read them anyhow. On your PC you'll get a white screen when you open the Quicktime (meaning you don't have the codec--it's only available with FCP), but FCP may be able to read it as a native DVCProHD file (which should give you more realtime--I don't believe FCP supports Avid codecs in realtime).
I haven't tested that so if you don't have a chance to test it go with option 1. Otherwise, try to see if FCP can read an Avid exported Quicktime without using Avid's codec.
Let us know what you find out.
