I have footage that was all shot on p2 cards with an HVX200 but some was shot 24p, some 24pn and some in an sd format resulting in 59.94i footage. I used raylight mxfx to convert the 24p to the 24pn (23.94) but I don't know what to do with the 59.94i footage to bring it into the same project. the audio was also all done in camera and I don't know if converting the footage will change it's synch. any advice would be great. the director wants a 24p project but a finished project is the most important factor. I also have dvfilm's dv filmmaker program but I don't know if that would work for what I need to do since the footage is p2. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Geoffrey,
the easiest way is to cross-convert your different files into a common format (target format), and then import them into MC with the project setting meeting your target project. I usually use "TMPGEnc Xpress 4.0" from Pegasy Inc, see www.pegasys-inc.com It allows you to import files of different formats (1080i, 720P) and converts them to a destination format of your choice. For import into MC,I select DNxHD based Quicktime format of the desired framerate. Try it and you will love it.

Hi Joachim,
When you convert from interlaced to a progressive format using TmpGEnc, do you setup the deinterlace filter with custom settings or do you use the default?
Thanks,
Steve

I use the default setting. I do this kind of transcoding very often (from 1080i/50 to 1280P/50) and never had any trouble or quality issues.
Addition: I have recently discovered, that MC imports 1080/50i Quicktime files into a 720/50P project, and creates appropriate 720/50P MXF-files. I had transcoded JVC's MPEG-2 full Hd files from the little HD7 disk recorder (file format is "Tape on Disk", .TOD) into 1080/50i Quicktime files.
the project I have has the audio recorded in camera, will this be an issue when converting? do I just pull the mxf files from the p2 cards? what about the audio?
