    Media Tool Question

This should be a pretty easy answer for someone who knows AVID MC pretty well.  I just cant figure it out...

I am wiping all the computers clean in my editing classroom.  I open the student projects, delete all the files for each project using the media tool (pre-computed and the other 2 categories), go back to the Bin and delete the sequences, title, etc, then quit out and delete the project itself from the project selection window.  When I open the medis tool to delete the next project on that same computer, the last project that I already deleted is still listed as if it is still on the computer.  Any way to totally wipe it, so it isnt even listed?

    Thanks,

    Alison

You have to delete the project from User>Documents>Avid Projects if it is private.

For deleting media files you can use MDV. Works fine for me.

MC_SY_DNxIO 2019.12 with dongle, BM 10.11.3.0, MC Transport 2019.12 , W10PRO_64, QT 7.7.9, Boris Red 5.6, BCC 2020 Multihost, AAE CS6, HP Z8G4 workstation... [view my complete system specs]

    Re: Media Tool Question

I can confirm that. MDV is much more reliable then avid's media tool (don't ask why) and it is free.

From the old Apple Quadro 950 to HP Z8xx. My current own system: 1x Z420 E5 1650 16GB memory, 128GB SSD, 1x XW8600, 2x 3.0Ghz Quadcore, 12GB memory... [view my complete system specs]

    Re: Media Tool Question

Today I found a bug and mailed the creator of this wonderful app.

If you try to move one project's files and there are Vitascene precomputes,

    MDV crashes.

If you select all files EXCEPT those precomputes then the copy goes out normal and after you can copy those precomputes!

But not all of the media files with the Vitascene precomputes together.

However the original poster asked about why the project still appears and this can't be done on any other way than deleting the project files (not media).

MC will see the project if the project files are there even if media has been deleted.

And the other way around, MC will not see the media files, even if there are there, if project files are missing.

Rather than using Explorer to remove a project, use MC. When you launch MC and you get the project selection dialog, select the project you wish to delete and press the delete key on the keyboard...
