Does anyone know if the Nitris DX supports 96k audio? And if so, does it down sample to 48k when out-putting to tape?

I am looking to get a DX system but want 96k support so I can use it with Pro Tools doing 96k mixes.

If you know of any white papers or documentation on the detailed specs of the DX, and can point me to them, that would be great as Ihaen't been able to find anything on the audio.

 ....Are you saying the Nitris DX is capable of 96 Khz audio capture and/or output ? If so, then this would be an excellent reason to justify purchasing one of these. Could you confirm if the Nitris DX can also handle 96 Khz with 24 bit audio samples, or point me to a spec sheet on this ? Normally I mix dialogue recorded in 48 KHz 16 bit samples, with orginal studio composed music recorded in 96 KHz audio @ 24 bit samples, which is then downsampled to 48 KHz with 24 bit samples to import into a MC 24 bit audio project. I find it nearly impossible to get a decent audio mix in anything less than 24 bit depth - especially if you're mixing more than four channels of audio. 48 KHz audio at 16 bit samples is a delivery format - not a mixing format.

EDIT: The studio we work with in Montreal uses a Pro Tools system to record and mix.

EDIT: Ooops ! Sorry, you seem to be saying that is not an option.

Per Avid the Symphony Nitris DX does support 96k. But they don't say if MC Nitris DX supports it.

Are you running MC Nitris DX or Symphony Nitris?

Nope, just that it's RT out of the box.

 ...Now that is freakin amazing ! Oh to be able to work in a project which supports 96Khz audio @ 24 bit ! The mixing resolution of sound effects and dialogue sweetening would significantly increase ! When one goes back down to streaming audio and video formats like WMV or Flash or SD DVD authoring, then you would certainly be able to hear the difference. I find it is of particular importance to audio clean up and re-dubbing to do it in much higher resolution.

So how do you setup a 96K MC project? My Audio project settings options have an  upper limit of 48K (MC3.0.5)

Just had a long chat with corporate to check and here's the drill........

media Cmposer Nitris DX using v3.0 to v3.0.5,  supports 96k audio.  It will be located under the Audio Project Settings.   The key here is.... you MUST turn off embedded SDI.  If embedded SDI is on, 48k is the highest sample rate which is why you are probably not seeing it.  YOu need to be on Nitris DX too.
