JUST IN CASE .....
Macintosh G4 dual processor 1,25 - 2GB RAM - VIDEO CARD ATI RADEON 9600 256MB - QT 7.3 - SYSTEM OSX 10.4.11 -
INSTALLED MC 2.8 and it works fine. No problem at all. (Just the resolution mpg50/40/30 have problem).
Tested with analog mojo and betacam sp in pal environment.
I was in xpress 5.7 (10.4.9)
unistalled (with his software) the xpress 5.7.
unpllagged the dongle and mojo off
upgraded 10.4.11
installed the QT 7.3 (from the download page on the beginning of this forum)
manualy moved some files from old xpress 5.7
installed MC 2.8 (NOT UPGRADE, real SOFTWARE)
plugged the new dongle
turn on the mojo
... and wow, no problem (scan of the disk, and my old project and media are ready for rock and roll)
moved project from old shared project.
moved my old personal settings from xpress settings to new.
I hope this help!
that's a beautiful news, i was too lazy to try it.
Great info.... I'm running basically the system (except nVidia GeForce 4 Ti rather than ATI), and I've stuck with AXP 4.x. It's good to know that there's still hope for this system to run the newer SW. (Even if it's unsupported; I'm only doing DV25 so there may be hope.)
Man, I really want to try this. I'm currently running XpressPro 5.8 on this totally unsupported system with no problems (yet..). Of course, I'm not working in anything higher than DV50 and most of my work is cuts and dissolves.
Mac G4 dual 1.6 GHz (processor upgrade)
1.5 GB RAM
ATI RADEON 9800 128MB
OSX 10.4.11 with QT 7.3.1
I think my video card could handle it, but I'm at the max RAM for my system (a Quicksilver) and I'm worried that would kill me. I'm also not using a SATA drive for my boot drive (but I could fix that, I have a SATA card that I'm using for my storage drives).
I'm planning to upgrade my workstation later this year, but it sure would be nice to buy the MC upgrade now and start playing around with it.
Does anyone know if MC 2.8 will even launch if you don't have the supported amount of RAM?
Is it that much more intensive than XpressPro 5.8?
Funny, I just loaded 2.8 on my 1.25 Powerbook G4 and it's working pretty darn well (upping ram from 1-2GB made it work). Thought I'd have to buy a new laptop to work at home occasionally, but it's running fine, getting no more Bus Errors than my 2.7 DP G5 at work. Won't do multiple effects without major stuttering but when things are rendered or just an occasional unrendered efffect, it pretty smooth.
