Will the updated MC-dongel work with AXP

One aspect which is not tuch in the treads about updating AXP to MC. What about the downgrade abilities?

E.g. we have one licens of AXP and use it on a main editing computer. But occasionaly, we need to start editing on road with an older Dell C840 laptop. The todays AXP will work with the computer, but what happens if we upgrade to MC. Can we use the dongle for AXP 5.5? or must we use MC 2.8? Can we install MC 2.5 instead to save RAM and CPU-power?
