I have not seen any mention of an upgrade from Liquid. The upgrade being discussed here is strictly from Xpress Pro.

In page 5 of this topic, you will find this info:

    "Hi there......

There isnt an upgrade from Liquid to Media Compsoer soft but there is some dicussion as to whether this is doable.  I will report back as soon as I can but note....... no promises.

Blkdog escalated the issues with the store pricing and I am working on getting some answers for him to communicate.  Stay tuned on that as well.

Exactly. Marianna said there is NO upgrade from Liquid.

Are you simply positing in support of the idea and maybe we have a language barrier issue here?

    BLKDOG:
You can upgrade to the Academic version of MC at the Academic price. To upgrade to the full version, I believe you have to pay the $995. I will clarify with Marianna how this works today and get back to you guys.

Any updates on this yet? Thanks!

Please see what LewS says about this, here:

Cesar, you need to look at what Lew says. It is pure speculation on his part. As of today (unless something has changed after i spoke to Marianna) there was no program in place to upgrade Liquid users to MC.

Found it! For anyone else (http://community.avid.com/forums/t/56260.aspx):

"Upgrade Academic Xpress Pro (any version) to a Commercial version of Media Composer (Including 3rd party Add-ons) is not an upgradable product at this time. Please contact your reseller for a price.

Upgrade pricing is available for Xpress 'Pro academic to Media Composer Academic. Again, contact your reseller."

    Thanks.

Ok thanks, I will wait then.

But its a great opportunity for Avid to re-gain thousands of AL7 users again.

    Re: New Communication from Avid

I have the academic xpress pro. I purchased the academic media composer today (not an upgrade, ie new dongle). I spent 3 hours getting rid of quicktime 7.4 and getting 7.3.0 back in business. And now I am carefully plotting my next move...

bdog...would I follow the say instructions as you posted in

"What to do once you receive your MC Upgrade"

and it's version 2.7.2 I was told that I would be able to download the latest after I registered....I am hoping that is true (but I aware that I won't be able to further update an academic)

    Re: New Communication from Avid

Sorry I already found answer in the thread "AXP STUDIO TO MC UPGRADE"

    ________________________________________________________

I just ordered the upgrade package from my reseller. But I´m a bit worried about my Studio toolkit. I´ve had problems with the toolkit recently and couldn´t use it for quite a while. Do you think there is a simple way of upgrading the studio toolkit which is now together with my xpress pro to Media Composer? Sorry if that´s the wrong place/thread to ask ...

    Thanks so much in advance,
    Emanuel
