Re: Why does .m2t import stop at 28:48:00?

    Hi,

I understand your thinking, but since this thread has been around for six months without any definitive answer, I'd give Avid support a call and see what they say.

    good luck,

Re: Why does .m2t import stop at 28:48:00?

    Dear All

I've read a few posts recently about importing mt2 files into Avid and the problems encountered with Avid only importing upto a maximum of 28 minutes or so...

As you can guess, i'm having the same problems... the import always stops after having reached 100% - but only having imported exactly 20m 48secs of footage...

Anybody manage to figure out why this happens?... and any solutions to the issue?...

    Kindest

Re: Why does .m2t import stop at 28:48:00?

Bringing this subject up again, after importing a 45 minute m2t clip and finding it truncated at 24 minutes each time, I'm wondering if anyone has found a reason or solution yet? This is a significant bug if there is still no workaround.

    Hi JD,

In your specs it says you're running QT 7.4, which isn't supported, according to the Version Matrix.  I'd try rolling QT back to 7.3 and see if that makes any difference.

    good luck,

    Hi Carl,

I unsuccessfully tried the import when I was still running QT 7.3. Have others had better luck with this version? Otherwise, 7.4.1 has been very stable with me so far

    Hi JD,

Ah, I'd seen a lot of posts from people that were having trouble with 7.4, and was hoping that might be what was causing your trouble, too.  If the problem was still there with 7.3, and 7.4 is working for you, I'd leave it alone.  Sorry I don't have better news for you.

    good luck,
    Carl

    Hi JD,

I'm trying to track this problem down.  Are your system specs correct?  Are you running Media Composer 2.8 and seeing the problem there?  Are you importing the material to OMF or MXF?  The more precise information you can provide, the better chance I have of getting somebody to do something about it.

    thanks,
    Carl

Carl, Have you escalated this yet? If not, I'd be happy to.

Quick question, 'Charlie, to what storage are you capturing? OMF or MXF? In what resolution are you importing?

    Hey Todd,

I saw another thread where Menno was going to escalate it, but I don't know what ever happened with that.  It seems like the x.7 upgrade took care of it for AXP, because I haven't seen any posts about it recently.

I came back to it, though, because JD's specs say he's running MC 2.8.  If that's the case and he's seeing the 24 minute limit with MXF media, then the problem isn't solved.

So to answer your question, if Menno didn't escalate it, and if it is still a problem, then yes, please would you escalate it?  I hope that made sense.

    adios,
    Carl

It does. Let's get more info from JD first.

Also, anyone else seeing this problem with the x.8 releases?

Re: Why does .m2t import stop at 28:48:00?

    Hi Carl,

    Thanks for looking into this.

I'm currently running MC 2.8 (on Mac OS 10.4.11) and importing as MXF. While importing, the progress bar says "Fast importing MPEG file", but no error messages. The file is always truncated to exacty 00:24:01:14.

I've only tested with one m2t file, but when I output to my HDV camcorder using the same file, the entire 45 minute show plays correctly.

    I hope this helps.

Re: Why does .m2t import stop at 28:48:00?

So Carl and I have escalated the issue to support. I just heard from them and they say to hang tight, they may not be able to check this out before Mon.

just like to add.. i have had exactly the same problem with importing any mt2 files... terminates import at exactly the same time... and running very similar set up to those mentioned through out these posts... also working with HDV.
