Unfortunately I do not receive an error message for my issue but:
I have set up my F7 key to be my fade effect shortcut. For some reason, when I open MC and go to make an edit (Delete, Command+Z etc...) I get a bonk sound and nothing happens. I found that placing my header over one of my alpha clips and pressing the F7 key to activate the fade effect prompt box and then canceling it allows me to start editing. It seems that there needs to be a prompt from MC in order to activate my editing tools.
This is the workaround but I'm wondering if anyone else has this issue.
All other editors here have the same shortcut and we share projects and no one seems to have this issue.
I have restarted MC, restarted my system, reset my user settings, re-mapped my fade effect to another key (same issue), re-installed MC and tried another keyboard and the issue still persists.
MC Version: 2023.12.2 (can't update due to servers)

Hi there
Did it work at all after you set the function key up or did it start right after on the next restart ? What OS are you on?
Regarding the keyboard - are all the editors whose F7 works using the same one as you are?
In my experience, shortcut issues like this can be caused by corrupted bins, outdated plugin ( if you added any or updated the OS ), and conflict with the project window being active.
If you create a new project and add any bin then try it does it still hapoen?
