    Exporting from iNews

    Hi MediaCentral Friends,

I know I can export stories from iNews (select story / File / Export), but can I export a queue or even a folder? I need to export some of my archive.

    Thanks for any help.

    AFAIK Stephanie

You can't export an entire queue or folder directly, but you can select all stories within them and export them together.

The exact steps and options may vary depending on your iNEWS version and configuration.

Need additional help let me know and provide your version etc. so I can provide steps.

    Re: Exporting from iNews

I've just done a test with iNEWS 2020.9, selecting all stories in the rundown and using the option File>Export Story Extended...

It's not ideal, as it exports every story in the rundown as a separate .rtf file, and not in the same order they were in in the rundown; instead the order is determined by your folder view preferences.

In addition, the contents of those .rtf files take a little time to parse, as they include all the information about that individual story, including the Story Form.

Another option that is worth exploring is Print.

You can print locally to a PDF, and in the options for this, you can choose to print the queue view, print a selected portion of the queue, print all stories in the queue, print selected stories or print the current story.

The first option just prints what you see in the queue view, not the story view, including story title and any other columns determined by the current queue form.

The second option prints only those line items you select in the queue view, either with shift or ctrl click.

The third option is rather unwieldy, as it will indeed save every story in the queue as an individual PDF, but it won't automatically name them and will ask you to name each individual PDF, so it can be very time consuming.

The fourth option acts much like the third, but only for those you have selected.

And the last option just prints the story pane from one line item. If you have multiple selected, it will print out the last one.

None of these seem to be great, but hopefully they'll help you.
