Link AMA'd wav files refuse to play

This one has me baffled: I can see the waveform but nothing happens when I hit play. Even stranger: as a test, I cut a bit of it into my sequence, and that made my sequence also refuse to play. I cut the clip back out and my sequence plays fine again. I did a full shut-down and relaunch and the problem stays. Before I try a straight import, does anyone have any ideas? This is weird as hell. Do they play anywhere else? Try converting one of the files and see if that one works. Sounds like a problem with the files not your Avid.

Open the Avid Console. See if any messages appear when you attempt to play the clip.
