Hi,
There is a feature in PP, "Export Frame" with a camera icon, that takes screengrabs and stores then wherever you want. Does MC have the same function at all?
D.
Park on the frame, rightl click the viewer > export > graphic then choose a jpg or a tif and export it to whereever you want. Little bit long-winded but same result.
Andi
Thank you, Andi
Also, does MC have a Global FX Mute button?
An editor friend of mine coming from PP asked me the same question and I asked here. The lovely Phillip was kind enough to provide a workaround which basically accomplishes the same thing. Not quite as elegant but it does allow you to play through a sequence without getting slowed down

Hi Andi,
Coming back to screengrabs, your suggested method does not seem to work. See below,
I don't understand? When you hit save it will save a TIFF to wherever you set your save loction?
Thank you.
But why is it when you solve one problem, another arises? So, I've just followed the process and the TIFF saved in the Pictures folder (I thought originally it had gone to desktop, so my bad there). But then when I move the playhead and seek to take another screengrab from here, following the same process only now adapting the file name so as to create anew rather than overwrite, the image captured is exactly the same as the first one. In short, now moving the playhead makes no difference; only the first playhead position seems to be the only image captured. Weird. Please advise, DC
Figured it. I had the in-point marked, and when saving the "Use Marks" option is ticked. Just unmark the timeline and then you can take as many different screengrabs as you like. Thank you for your help, D.
Glad you got it working.
An alternative way of quickly exporting a frame from your sequence without configuring a JPEG export is to print your composer window.
Highlight your record monitor, then click CTRL+P, then save to PDF.
Media Composer should then generate a PDF, I've attached an example (download in Microsoft Edge). You can configure the print settings to make the PDF as large as the frame
