Hi,
Very weird one. I am linking to some interview footage, and up until a few days ago all was good. But now, and quite randomly, in playback the footage, and therefore the speaker, judders - I don't know if this is the right term, but somehow buffering doesn't seem to be the right term in this context. Again, it is random, as sometimes it still plays well. (As a test, I also transcoded this footage and the same juddering still applies.)
Of course this makes editing difficult. It also seems random, as sometimes it plays well. The original files are fine, not corrupted. Not as though I think it makes any difference, but below is a Media Info on the original file.
Help?

if you link and transcode, does that work? MPEG4 is not an avid native codec so linking may not work. If you really want to link, suggest you flip the file into DNX MOV or other supported file type.
However, the beauty of AVID is in managed media.....editors say "friends don't let friends edit with linked media"...try linking and transcoding...you might like it....
Thank you. In frustration I simply rendered the clip as though it were an effect (my seeting being Apple ProRes) and this seemed to solve it. Out of interest, as I take it that the Reveal File function won't do much in this context, where can I find within my folders this particular rendered clip?
I get what you're saying about linking, though generally there has not been an issue until now. It's a weird one.

I wonder if that is the same system with the import issues and the no drive being avaiable... is it?

Hi Marianna,
I am not sure, but the workaround is Ok-ish. But when Pumping out the whole project my colleague noted how relatively crap the interview footage looks. I will need to transcode in the footage and replace. It's a really weird one.
