These days, I am editing vertical videos in a custom 1080x1920 (9:16) project for Youtube Shorts.
But adding titles are not possible using the old Avid Title Tool or Marquee in this format.
So, I have to use Titler+. But it is really buggy. It's a mess.
Added titles will apprear outside of the screen on the left portion (even if the title cursor is in the middle of the screen) until I use the alignment tools.
And modifying a text is not easy. The cursor will not be at the same place than the added or deleted caracters!
The other option that I can use is to use a different titler like the NewBlue Titler Pro.

Hi Sylvain.....
The MC Titler option has improved in 2024.3 which appears to be what you are using. We have improvements coming and the titler + is in alpha testing but it probably wont make 2024.6 which we anticipated at the beginning of 2024. You can request access to the alpha/beta testing and try it but it wont be ready for prime time in the next month or so... :(
If I were you - I would prob go with NewBlue if you can.

You can indeed use Marquee for 9x16 but it won't launch if you are using a My Preset. Just flip your project over to a default preset, then open Marquee, then flip MC back to your 9x16 My Preset. You'll then want to set up the Marquee Preferences to match your My Preset specs. Please let's never EOL Marquee... it's amazing.

Try using the text section under the timecode tool.
Much faster/easier to use.

Marquee is 100x better. includes animation and is worth learning on PC MC.
Soon a new Titler+ will join the toolset-- looking forward to it!
...go with New Blue...marquee is done, as is the old title tool....New Blue is awesome....

It is done and that's why Marquee works well for those who use it.
Robert, I'm glad you are happy but please give us an update on your NBTP post. Is it soup yet?

are folks still waiting for a version to be released? ETA?
not sure when the beta will be released....its all the other NLEs causing the problems....meanwhile...the workaround for the simple problem still works and takes about 30 secs....is that good enough...or should we use marquee and classic title tool that are not even available on the mac?

Hey, I enjoy a good workaround but that little surprise was just one that I experienced. It looks promising absolutely but I'll look for the in-depth reviews on not sure.
A new Titler+ to the rescue...
I asked the folks at NB about the release date.....meanwhile....are you having any success with the workaround? Any decent, experienced editor should have no trouble with the simple instructions.
BTW...not affiliated with NB and not compensated in any way....just a beta tester at their invitation.

You're right, I never gave it a decent chance, probably because I simultaneously fell back in love with... Marquee. Yes, Marquee! Don't you just love that name? Once I finally learned how to export 4K alpha animation files, I couldn't get it out of my head...
I had expected a completely different experience based on your many NB raves. Yet that siren was calling out for me the whole time, taunting me, teasing me with fun-lovin' photoshop-like resizable, rotate-able and clone-able video cut-outs...and other retro 2D/3D tricks. I haven't enjoyed a titling program this much since Broadcast Titler & Alpha Paint.
I love that there's a 600-page online Marquee User Manual, too. I respect that effort.
I am grateful though, for your honesty-- it speaks well of you. Enjoy the beta testing and good luck with it all. As I said, it does look promising.
At some point, Titler+ will be back in full force... good times ahead, Mac or PC.
Instead of the Timecode Burn-In generator, I can use SubCap generator when I only need a fast basic title.
It has more text options like Text Outline and basic drop shadow.
But for more advanced titles, NewBlue and Marquee are better. And for animated titles, NewBlue is easier and faster to use. (When it doesn't crash and requires to restart MC!)
