    Confused [*-)] Consolidate RED files

    Hello!

I've been having trouble with RED files and wonder if anybody else has run into this. I haven't found anything on the subject.

I'm creatiing an AAF for a colorist to work on and he wanted me to consolidate the files on the sequence. When he brought it in to BaseLight he notice that a lot of the media was offline. I tried bringing it in to DaVinci to find the same problem. When I started looking at the consolidated media I notice that all RED files loooked different from what they are supposed to. When a RED file is over 4,3Gb they split but on the consolidated medai the clips that were over 4,3Gb didn't split into multiple files. So all RED material was 4,3Gb or lower. I was wondering if it's a setting I should look into or maybe a plug-in. Has anybody ever had this problem?

I'm working on a macOS Monterey 12.6, Avid 2024.2.0, and we work from Editshare which are online disks.

    Thank you guys!

I wasn't aware you could consolidate RAW red files.

I've always just copied all the RED clips used in the sequence and relinked them to the sequence AAF.

    Hi Pat!

I want to do it that way, but we work with a lot of long interviews and most of our material is 8K so I'm trying everything to send the least amount of material possible, or the lightest version possible.
