I've recently puchased MC Ultimate 2023.12.0 running on iMac Retina 5K 27" 3.6 Ghz 8-core Intel i9 March 2019, AMD Radeon Pro 580X 8 GB, Memory 64 GB, OS Sonoma 14.2.1

Testing the system both ways --  from media on a 12GB SanDisk drive and Samsung T7 Shield.

Both times playing down a 28min seq of the last show I worked on, with no other applications running or bins open.  My CPU usage soars to 147% and CPU temp increases.  I did turn off PhraseFind Indexing as it almost fried my CPU over 76C/1269F.

I tried to clear bin memory under the About Avid Media Composer Configuration and memory still spikes.

Is there a setting I need to set to keep this from overheating my CPU?

Is the media that you are playing back already transcoded or linked? as linked media are usually processor intensive.

On MacOS, a fully utilized core is counted as 100% in the Activity Monitor. An 8 core CPU fully loaded is equal to 800%. 147% seems normal.
