I am trying to add some dissolves between some clips in my sequence. For some reason the dissolve is smooth in some places and choppy in others. I have tried adding the transition with rendering, adding without rendering, and shifting the transition in different ways within the sequence. Also, the choppiness is there regardless of the type of quick transition and the number of frames which it lasts.

What type of media are you trying to transition between, is it Avid managed?

Does it happen with other sequences or just this sequence?

The media is Avid-native and it happens in other sequences as well.

WHat happens if you do a video mixdown of a few seconds before, over the transistion and then after.

How does that play? smooth or choppy?

Still choppy with the mixdown.

Are there any indicators on the TC track? These would be blue, yellow, or red lines where the playback is choppy.

Nothing there. I have noticed that there is a small green dot on top of the transition which is smooth which is absent from the ones that are choppy. Even though I rendered all of the effects equally do you think there's anything there?

Can you post a screenshot of the timeline showing a choppy and a smooth transition?

What is your render settings (codec and quality)?

What kind of drive are you using for the render drive?

My project's settings: 2K 2048x1536 4:3 24P

My drive is an HDD.

What codec is your render settings? DNxHR LB? DNXHD 145? etc.

You need to be a bit more specific. Is this a spinning hard drive, or a solid state disc?
