Remote working and went to Hard Drives over Jump because we needed to go LCR.
We have full sets of media at home. Is there a way to share a project on Dropbox or something? I know when i use dropbox it does not recognize bins that are open on the other system? Is this a setting? Without a Nexis is this possible?
Thanks
AB
Hi acbrock, is not possible to work with teh Bin lock mechanism without Nexis...
You can have the projects and all its bins in different computeres, but from that moment, one machines loses track of wht is doing the other one...
HTH!
Cheers!

Hi, that solution still needs to have a 3rd party shared Storage or a way of sharing remote media, a Media Composer setting won't sort out the Bin lock.
HTH.
Surely a cheap NAS (Synology etc) can be used to host the project? Media can still be held locally. I haven't tried this but you would only need your project workspace to behave like a Nexis wouldn't you? Your bins would still link to local media but would have bin locking capability? Just spitballing here. Maybe reach out to Hedge and see how people are using it?
In your General settings there is a checkbox for "Enable Bin Sharing on 3rd Party storage emulating Avid NEXIS/ISIS".
As a side note, we work remotely but locally, with mirrored copies of our media on local RAIDs and we use Resilio to quickly share bins and small files between myself and the other 3 editors. It works perfectly and as long as everyone maintains their own project, we don't get any issues with overwriting other people's bins.
But I'm always interested to hear more about how people are working remotely.
Having two or more copies of media across WS and sharing bins or AAFs seems to be the proven and most cost effective way of "sharing" media and projects.
Al other solutions in the middle between your local compuer hardware and having Nexis will imply a higher cost, safe storages are not cheap, could be one cheaper than other but real media protection, editing performance and immediate access costs money... your budge will decide.
Good luck.

With Mimiq? Yes to all the above.

And with Mimiq Pro, you can store a Shared Avid Project on a LucidLink Filespace and achieve Bin Locking from anywhere.
