Hey there,
in the next versions of Media Composer i would be greatful to see a feature i miss a long time.
In a sequence it is possible to Split one stereo track to two separate mono tracks. The other way arround is missing. Means to merge two mono tracks to one stereo track in the timeline.
I know that you can modify a master clip and replace it in the timeline, or mixdown the tracks, but this function would speed up the process and make it easier to archive the goal.
+1000!
THis has been raised before. Creating 2 mono tracks from a stereo track is a relatively simple task as you just duplicate the attributes from the stereo to the 2 mono tracks.
If the 2 mono tracks were identical then in theory making them into a stereo track isn't that difficult but if there is any difference between the tracks that becomes impossible.
A mixdown to stereo resolves that as it bakes in any effects, level changes etc.
And of course if you add 2 X mono to stereo you'd have to add 6 x mono to surround as well.

Pro Tools allows for that. But PT treats clips on the timeline a bit differently.
Job ter Burg: Pro Tools allows for that. But PT treats clips on the timeline a bit differently.
And I suspect Avid also considers they have a tool that does that so why add it to the video editing tool. We've seen this before.
That doesn't make sense in this case, though. It's just way tougher to handle than it is in PT.
