Quicktime .MOV Files Incompatible with iMovie

I am a Mac user running OS 11 (Big Sur) and using Sibelius 2022. When I try to make score videos the resulting Quicktime .mov file is always incompatible with the iMovie app., meaning I cannot edit the file before uploading to YouTube. I would be most grateful for any suggestions as to how to fix this issue.

These are the forums for Media Composer. The Sibelius forum is located here: http://www.sibelius.com/cgi-bin/helpcenter/chat/chat.pl?com=show&groupid=3. If you're making a .MOV file then the iMovie app can't read it. You want to make a .MP4 file instead.

Try exporting the video in a different file format, such as MP4 or AVI, which may be more compatible with iMovie. Additionally, ensure both Sibelius and iMovie are up to date, and consider using a video conversion software to convert the file if necessary.

I also can't score video when I use Mac running OS 11. I can't find any useful method when accessing the above forums.

Since iMovie can't handle a QT file, I suggest installing HandBrake. This is a free app and will convert from .MOV to anything else, including MP4. You can download HandBrake from here: https://handbrake.fr/downloads.php
