System is iMac(2019) 8th Gen 21.5" 3.2GHz i7 32GB RAM running macos 10.5.7 and using BMD ultrastudio 3G mini-monitor with Desktop Video 11.6 driver. Also using NEXIS with client v20.7.5.23. iMac previously ran PT and MC21.6 with no issues.
I uninstalled PT and then installed PT 22.6 which opened with no problems. I then uninstalled Media Composer, Cloud Services and Avid Link. Then ran MC22.7 installer and only installe Media Composer. I was surprised it didn't insist on rebooting to finish install as previous versions have done.
On launch MC crashed when I tried to open a project. It did this again and I rebooted the iMac. Now it won't even launch MC - I get "application not responding". I have the crash log from the first crash.
Any help or advice appreciated.
Thanks, Nigel
Did you try the 'fatal error reports' fix?
It's been mentioned in previous posts on this problem, and it worked for me recently with a student's laptop.
Essentially, you have to delete the following folder...
/Users/Shared/AvidMediaComposer/Avid FatalErrorReports.
What Bruno said.
Also, another issue some people recently had after a fresh install was this:
https://avid.secure.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/Error_Message/EssentialResourceNotAvailableError-Launching-Media-Composer-2022-4
It usually produces a different error message though.
Other stabs in the dark:
- delete MC State
- try to launch with video hardware detached
- press and hold [option] while launching MC
Thanks for the suggestions but unfortunately nothing has worked.I also tried a clean install but I'm having the same problem.
For anybody who has installed successfully on a mac - did the install restart your mac at the end?
Your OS really is 10.5.7? Aka "Mac OS X Leopard"? :o
Edit: Never mind. It said 10.5.7 in the original post but I just saw the 10.15.7 in your specs. ;)
I managed to get the software installed by disabling some scripts that install/restore user settings, and ensuring I created a new user before openign a project. But now I have a new problem - SYS_ERROR, OSErr:-5000.The fix suggested here doesn't help as user account and home already match as created my macos:https://avid.secure.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/Troubleshooting/macOS-SYS-ERROR-OSErr-5000?retURL=%2Fpkb%2Farticles%2Fen_US%2FFAQ%2FException-SYS-ERROR-OSErr-5000%3FretURL%3D%252Fpkb%252Farticles%252Fen_US%252Ftroubleshooting%252Fen259893%253Fpopup%253Dtrue%26popup%3Dtrue&popup=true
I installed MC in an admin account as instructed in the installer doc. Whe I then log into a standard [student] user account I get the error. Last year I had the same problem - I installed in the standard user account and got same error message when trying to launch inthe admin account.HOw do I get the MC install to work in both accounts?
I see others have experieceed the same problem: https://community.avid.com/forums/t/205843.aspx
Unfortuntaly none of the fixes so far identified work for me.
Problem solved thanks to:
