For quite some time now I've been trying to export an AAF from Avid Media Composer 2021, and each time I get the same exception error.

    Exception: std::exception, what:ACF call failed: mSampleConsumer->ConsumeSample (avOutputBuffer), error code 0x80000008, file Users/releng/Builds/workspace/MC/Release_Installer_Git/Mac_Build/coresw/ame/src/sms/AMAWriter/AMAExportSynchromizer.cpp line534

Avid starts to export an AAF and stops on this error message after seconds, without creating any consolodated media in the bin. And I am stumped.

I've tried several different things including export settings, user settings, relinking, and so on. I have gotten exports to finish in a 2018 version of Media Composer, but those have not opened correctly in ProTools. So what is this error and how can I fix it?

Someone must have come across this before but I haven't been able to find any answers in the usual places. Please help!

    Re: AAF Exception Error

    Hi there,

Are you able to update to the latest version (2022.7) and see if you're able to export the aaf from there?

Does this happen with only one timeline, or multiple timelines?

    Also this might help:

    AndrewAction:

Have you tried duplicating your sequence an d then in the duplicate sequence deleting all audio tracks. Then try to export an AAF.

Then duplicate the sequence again and delete all Video tracks and try export to AAF again.

Just to make sure: the disk you are trying to export to is not (too) full, right?

Another thing that might cause trouble is when you have group clips in the sequence and did not commit them prior to AAF export. I believe the error message for that used to be different though.

Any linked but not transcoded clips in the sequence?

Did you try to only export portions of the sequence?

Are you exporting audio, video or both?

    Re: AAF Exception Error

Little update. This sounded like a very good idea to me, so I upgraded my Avid but still got the same result.

I've also looked at this similar, related error but it doesn't seem to make a difference:

    Re: AAF Exception Error

So did any of the suggestions produce a result?

A video only export. I an audio only export.

An export of just a small section (one near the start one near the end)?
