How are people using this? We have TBs of BRAW material whether it links or not seems to be totally random.
I have tried multiple version of Blackmagic RAW (1.6,1.6.1, 2.0, 2.3, 2.4) and a few different versions of media composer 2018.12.15, 2020.4, 2021.12 on windows and today on MAC using version 2021.12
When trying to link a lot of the time the source browser will say "Can't be Linked" in the Plug-In column. Other clips will say "Blackmagic RAW". The infuriating thing about it (except everything!) is sometimes clips from the same camera\card will have both linkable clips and un-linkable clips.
If the same clips are brought into Resolve it can link to them all without issue. I was trying to see if there was any differences between linkable and un-linkable somewhere but nothing obvious jumps out.
Currently the workflow is to eyematch the offline clip, link in high res in Resolve, consolidate to new media, link in Avid but this is not optimal.
I'm currently technical operating on a couple of large feature-length documentaries, working with primarily blackmagic raw.
Wana know the secret? Use resolve for dailies.
It hurts me to say that as an Avid forum mod, but genuinely I find it to be the most effective workflow.
My workflow on these big docs is:
Dailies in resolve > Offline in Avid > Colourwork in Resolve > Online, QC and Export in Avid
I don't do manual shot matching. I work with AAFs and mezzanine/offline DNx files to go between systems.

So you do the conform in Resolve right?
It is really unfortunete because 90% of the footage is not BRAW and links as expected in Avid, that is why I was thinking of just conforming the clips used to "new masters" in resolve to use in the conform in avid but none of it is as clean or tidy as I would like it.
The other problem is if the "locked cut" changes it becomes a contstant back and forth between programs.
But glad you replied, thank you for taking the time.

Be aware nothing you do in Resolve touches the original media. This means that with any backward and forward between the two systems Resolve links to the original camera media.
In MC I open a project setup for the proxy media format. I open a new bin and copy the Resolve AAF from the Avid Media folder into it. The bin fills all the proxy media clips from that timeline and an Avid timeline I can use the all of the media string-outs for my sources for the offline. Each string-outs media is in its own bin.
When the offline is locked I duplicate the timeline, remove all effects and export a link to media AAF. Import this into Resolve in timeline setup to be online format. Resolve populates the timeline from the original media. If I have any doubts I can export this timeline at desired online resolution and AAF it back to MC. Here I can see it is correct if the Resolve online timeline lines up with the MC no effects timeline. Then I can add a video track to the offline cut and edit the Resolve online AFF on to it. Then I drag the MC effects from the original MC offline up onto the Online Resolve Media timeline. Changes become easy as I can round trip a timeline with just the new / changed clips.
With this method only the changed shots need go back and forth and the Resolve Colourist can start work on the online footage quiet early in the process.
You could start in Resolve for just your few RAW clips by making both offline and online quality clips for MC
Andrew's workflow for me has one major fundamental flaw. This:

I personally like to add in a LOT of effects in my online sequence.
If you go from Resolve > Avid > Resolve > Avid you won't have to rebuild any effects in the online editor. Simply export an AAF with associated media from the colour grading system, Ingest the AAF and Avid should auto re-link the sequence with the colour graded shots, and still retain all the effects from the offline sequence.

Correct. Once picture locked in Avid I send out a linked only AAF, and conform to original masterclips in resolve. Then colour can begin.

A matter of choice I guess. I have done it both ways but these days prefer using Resolve's effects and the render for a draft online. That way MC gets back from Resolve a timeline with FX rendered from the cameras original media. Obviously I can still add any further MC effects at this stage. This can save me time with the delivery file as I can quickly export the finished timeline as a same as source media from MC.
All great information. Appreciate the input.
Thank you,

On another note have you seen what Angus Emmerson can do in Avid end-to-end? Simply amazing

Actually there's a third party plugin that will allow you to link BRAW directly into Media Composer. I've been able to work with it and edit Braw footage seamlessly some time ago. Not sure to remember the name but look for it, I think it's Mediareactor from Drastic if that's the one it is perfectly working.
Thank you for the information. I downloaded Mediareactor but it did not help the situation. I contacted their support and they suggessted a few things but none of it got the BRAW media to link consistantly.
I think this will be have to be a Resolve conform.
Thank you again,
Dont know if this can help?

Thank you again, I had a look at that website and the third party Studio is for Premier Pro and the Blackmagic Design official plugin for Premiere Pro and Avid is the BRAW SDK's that I initially tried before coming here, I think. It is currently at 2.4 released last week but it did not help.
I could have files shot on the same day on the same camera and one will link and the other will not.
It seems like it is a widespread problem.
Thank you again.
