I have a group clip that was made in a late 2021 version of MC.
I am currently running 2022.4.0 on OS 12.3.1 which I recently upgraded to.
The source material for the group clip is 3840x2160p. The project is 1080p.
When I load the group clip in the Source window it looks normal (full-frame) in pause.
When I hit play, the picture punches in like it is doing a 1080 center cut of the larger source frame. It goes back to full frame on stop.
If I edit the group clip into a 1080p sequence, it behaves normally.
If I match back to the original clip it behaves normally so it seems to be something about the group in playback.
Anyone else see this? I am wondering if it is a bug..Is there some setting somewhere that I need to change?
Maybe related to the FrameFlex limitation with Group Clips? When clips are grouped FrameFlex is bypassed during playback. This irritates us to no end. A lot of time we will get pocket camera footage that's upside down and we'll use FrameFlex to flip it over but when you hit play it's back to upside down. Once the group clip is commited then all is right again. but until we reach that phase this 'issue' is extremely problematic during the editorial process.
Was that limitation present on Macs as well or just PCs? I feel like this is the first time I've seen it since moving up to 2022.4 I have been Mac only.
In any case it makes working with groups problematic as you noted.
I'm seeing precisely the same issue since moving to 2022.4. A project I've been working on for over a year, through various versions of 2020.x and 2021.x suddenly started displaying this issue upon moving to 2022.4. I've filed a support case.
As mentioned, I had never seen this before, and filed a bug report. But I got this response back from tceh support, which was really confusing? Would peope really have requested this as a FEATURE? Seems unlikely, surely? And even if it was a request, is this the first time it's been implemented, six years later?! Transcoding is clearly not an option, so that's not a helpful solution.

I got the same issue in 2021.12.2.
Similar behavior. If i'm in quad split view the framing is normal. But when not using quad split it's zoomed in whether playing or stopped. Source clip displays fine. Very annoying.

Hi Philip....
