On my mac desktop running Catalina. Just downloaded the latest MC 2022.4 and no matter what I tried, selecting different components during installation, multiple uninstalls and re-installs, manually deleting ACFString.avx, I just cannot make it past this error of EssentialResourceNotAvailableError.
Anyone encounter such a thing? Avid is super creative year after year coming up with this class of dying-on-launch errors. Welcome to 2022.
This is a bug. Re-install media composer, in the installer you need to uncheck the NDI option.
Hope this helps

I've not heard of this before I'm afraid. There are other Catalina users sucessfully running 2022.4 so there must be something "different" about your Mac setup. What that is I have no idea.
I'd try a fresh OS install onto an external drive and boot to that and then try a fresh MC install. If that still has the same issue then it must be a hardware "difference". If that works then your current OS or an application is causing an issue.
I've installed hundreds of versions of MC over decades on PC's an Macs and occasionally I have an issue but mostly it just works. Avid doesn't "create" launch errors they report errors about an issue launching.

_ts_: I get an "EssentialResourceNotAvailableError" when opening this version after installing with the default settings on both Mac(Catalina - latest version) and Win10 21H2. If i uninstall, then reinstall but uncheck the option for installing NDI, MC opens and operates fine

camoscato: Uninstall Media Composer. Then reinstall it, but during the installation process when the window comes up asking if you want to install the NDI options, don't check anything. Continue the installation, and the error should not reappear.

I just did a re-install across the board (MC, PT & Link) and used this info and all worked perfectly.
As an experiment I did it ther first time without unchecking NDI and MC still crashed instantly.
Did it again the correct way - uncheck "NDI" and MC launches correctly.
Thanks for this info!

Hi Philip,
I'm getting the same error message but after uninstalling MC and launching the new install, I don't get that option to choose whether I want NDI or not. I only have to agree to the terms and conditions and then the installation goes automatically.Could you please help out on this?
I had same issue as you. I could only find the option (to turn off) when using the downloaded installer.

Someone else (somwhere in forum) said there is an "NDI" file somewhere that you can simply remove instead of re-installing, but for the life of me I cannot find the post.

This knowledge base article has instructions for downloading and installing just the missing file:
