When linking and transcoding animation mov files (since importing doesn't really work anymore) my audio often (but not always) comes in stereo. I do not want this... I prefer split mono tracks. Is there a way to force this on the link / transcode? If I splt them after the fact in the bin it does nothing. I have to lay the clip into the timeline and split to mono there. An annoying waste of time.

There is a link setting to control multitrack audio.
But if linked as stereo modify clip multichannel audio should let you unclick the green stereo option.

I did check that option. Unfortuantely it is unchecked and not green.
Those are your import settings, those won't modify clips that have already been brought in. Also, if you are linking clips (rather than a classic File->Import), the audio multichannel settings for that are in the Link settings.
To modify any clip, already imported or linked: Select the clip in the bin, choose Clip->Modify->Set Multichannel audio.
Right... I'm trying to split all imports to dual mono on import. No stereo. Classic import doesn't work at all. Literally nothing happens. Have to use the Source Browser and link / transcode.
Clip->Modify->Set Multichannel audio does work on clips already in the bin. Thank you for that. In the bin I was going Clip->Audio->Split all tracks to mono. That did not work.
So instead of import setting change the import settings. (in source browser with link radio selected click the gear icon.
For clips already linked in its not split.
It's right click. Modify then multichannel audio.
Thanks Pat. I just don't see any working option to split prior to import or link / transcode via the Source Browser. The gear icon reveals no settings indicating it will come in stereo vs. split mono.
The suggestion from Job and yourself on splitting after import works great.
Todd Sanderson: Have to use the Source Browser and link / transcode.
In settings, User tab, Link settings, under Link Options, there is also a Multichannel audio setting. Or as Pat mentioned, the gear icon in the Source Browser takes you to the same settings, but you have to click on the Link Options tab.
I do see that in both locations and both are set to none. No green stero lit up either place.
Todd are you highlighting the clips you want to modify?
Have you tried creating fresh user settings and then try linking again.
It's clearer to call this ingesting (that covers import and linking)
Calling linking importing when imports a different function is confusing.
